Thank you so much to everyone who let me scream and wail and sob at them -- I can't tell you how much that shit helps. The four stories I have to produce this week are looking more doable: I have to put together an audio story tonight (about street beautification and its effects on business!) and (ulp) I am interviewing the president/CEO of the
Chicago Flower Show tomorrow morning at 9, which means getting up at an ungodly hour so I can be at Navy Pier on time.

Pennsylvania and Virginia, Where the Nation Was Shaped -- A brief look at the Gettysburg battlefield and a few early presidential manors, with some ramblings that I found to be of interest. I haven't been to Gettysburg since I was 11 and I've always wanted to see Monticello.
A Trip to Iran -- So jealous.
Cliteracy -- An interesting-sounding art show in New York that just opened.
Newtown: On covering a massacre where you live -- A conversation between a journalist and a retired Chicago homicide detective about how certain professions navigate a job that may seem to require them to live within but not as part of a community.
Please Take This, Copy It, Use It, Improve It: A Digital Fandom Checklist -- How fandom trains you to be a better online citizen
The Museum of Endangered Sounds -- I almost don't want to explain it so you get the surprise of it when you click.
No title, but this is what happens when you put strangers in a ball pit together. And it's lovely.
How monarch butterflies find their way to Mexico and what that means to me
P.S.
I have an Initech mug. Mmm, yyyeaaaaah.
Sleeping Beauties vs. Gonzo Girls -- Not the article I quite want it to be, but I'm all for the rise of female trickster characters in popular culture.
Never Before Seen Photos From Legendary Street Photographer Garry Winogrand -- "Fourteen amazing scenes of life in America-and hundreds more where that came from." I can't wait to do photojournalism, FYI.
The Hour Creator Abi Morgan on What Might Have Happened in Season Three -- STILL FURIOUS ABOUT THIS.
So my alma mater
did fringe science. No really.
