A bit of good news, because everyone likes that too!

If you read this or another post about deleted comments disappearing on LJ, it looks like it's a display issue rather than a purging issue:Dear user kerrikins,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I was able to confirm just a bit ago what you replied with here, that it is a display problem only with the new commenting form. The comments are still there, but are not properly being displayed in the new style. Viewing the page in an S2 comment style makes the comment display properly.

There is no intent to delete these comments in any permanent sense -- as noted, this is just a display problem with the new commenting style. It apparently is not viewing the 'purged' status correctly. I have filed a bug ticket about this behavior, so that it can hopefully be resolved quickly. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Regards,
Anne

For those interested,
murdering is drawing up a really good FAQ about how to use DW, how you can change things to suit your tastes more, why people are leaving LJ and where you can find useful information on DW.

In other news, whoa, I just took a nap and needed it. My keyboard is still kind of sticking, but it's usable, and I was able to back up my whole hard drive on a Western Digital 500 GB external for Macs (it was on clearance, and everything else they had was much bigger than I wanted). I haven't tried using the optical drive yet, so whether CDs and DVDs work is an entirely different adventure.

I had plans to start tackling the utterly ridiculous piles of stuff that are part of the reason I spilled tea on my laptop last night, but apparently I will be lucky if I can manage to make dinner. C'est la vie, I guess!

This was originally posted on Dreamwidth, where it has
