Well, this hasn't happened in a while.

So, uh, hi. I was supposed to be on an airplane this afternoon, flying back to Chicago Midway Airport.

I was going through Google News and saw this story; not five minutes later, I got an automated call from Southwest telling me my flight has been cancelled. On checking the Southwest rebooking website, it looks like I can't get back to Chicago ( Read more... )

I don't know about Chicago specifically, but it has been absolutely insane here in Minnesota--my town's gotten 17 inches of snow, the football stadium's inflatable roof's collapsed, and if the state can get the roads cleared by Monday, it'll be a small miracle, and this is the same storm that's hitting Chicago now.

So all I can say is, GOOD LUCK.

Oh, and Delta canceled all their flights in Minneapolis yesterday.

WOW. That... that takes a lot. Well, I can't get back to Chicago until 8:30 on Tuesday night, which is going to mean leaving Seattle at 8:55 AM and going through Phoenix. Tuesday will be awesome!

Just. Wow. I can't get back to Chicago until 8:30 on Tuesday night, so clearly this storm means business.

At least Seattle is nice? Or so I hear?

Seattle is pretty excellent! I'm not in Seattle proper, but I can get there from here, I think.

It is bordering on icy, here, but I guess the big problem is the wind. There is a drift of snow blocking my door! (Not a huge one, mind, but a drift nonethless.) Soooooo... enjoy the extra time in Seattle? XD

Yeah, apparently we're supposed to get wind chills of -20 too? Awesomesauce, upper Midwest! \o/

Heh. I guess that means you get a snow day! I mean, if you can't leave your apartment...

Oh, it's not bad enough to merit a snow day. Alas.

You're in Seattle?? That's awesome! Will you be around downtown/ capitol hill anytime before you leave Monday night? I only know you via LJ (and even then I never check it anymore) but you seem cool and it would be nice to grab coffee or something before you head out. 206 883 4293

Uh oh yeah just to clarify, I'm asking as a friend, haha! (Not a date!) I should re-read things before I post them...

Hee! No, I got you! It would be definitely cool! I'm trying to work out what my schedule is going to be, and whether we're going to still try and get me on standby, but I will absolutely keep you posted as to availability!

If ever there were an appropriate time to use this icon, this is it. :) I don't know about Chicago, but southwest Wisconsin got, for lack of a better word, shmucked. XD I've heard seven to twelve inches of snow, I *know* there's blowing and drifting, and the wind's howling through the cracks around my windowframe. Brrrr ick!

Tuesday night, though? Ouch. *hugs*

Ha! I think "Brr ick" pretty much covers it. And yeah, I'm not looking forward to a 12+ hour travel day, but given that I'm a couple hundred (more than a thousand?) miles away, what are you going to do?

True enough. Can't do much about it. And you're in Washington State, which is quite the wonderful place to be stuck. So. :)
