So, uh, hi. I was supposed to be on an airplane this afternoon, flying back to Chicago Midway Airport.
I was going through Google News and saw
this story; not five minutes later, I got an automated call from Southwest telling me my flight has been cancelled. On checking the Southwest rebooking website, it looks like I can't get back to Chicago until 12:40 AM on Tuesday morning. I called the Southwest number and got a woman in Chicago. I asked her how the weather looked; she said that no planes have gone up or down since she arrived at 7 AM, and that the only things on the runways are snow plows. "It an act of God out here" were her exact words.
So, er, now I'm trying to find out if it's worth it to go to SeaTac and try for a standby, or if it's even worth it, given that no planes seem to be going in and out.
Uh. Hey, world. Any on-the-ground perspective from my Chicago people?
Update: I can't get back to Chicago until 8:30 on Tuesday night. I leave Seattle at 8:55 Tuesday morning and have a layover in Phoenix. Wow.
