Hey everyone!
Today's entry is from one of my newest discoveries, only finding out about them less than a week. I believe I had heard of them once before, months ago during the South by Southwest recap and by my ex's account, but I had recently saw them perform on David Letterman, their first network television performance and knew this was a band i could get behind.
Spotlight Artist of the Week #18: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
I'm in love with this band. I simply am. I think I might have listened to their album, Up From Above, at least twenty times in the last week. Their sound is extremely organic, delivering a spirit of freedom and love that is resonate of the late 60s, on par of Crosby, Stills and Nash. But like any great band, they found their own place in this genre. The best way to describe them is if you took Arcade Fire, left them in the Southern California valleys for a few months, they would emerge with this kind of music. Their live performances are just as inviting as the music that it represents. I want everyone to listen to them. Just do it. Also, if you're a fan of the internet show, Dorm Life, you might recognize the blond, who is Courtney. In truth, I didn't turn off the show because I saw her. And I'm more than happy that I stayed.
Enjoy the free download and the video performance from David Letterman.
