Throwback Thursday: The Monkees

May 28, 2009 21:33

Hey lovies!

Today I have been listening to some folk tunes and some old classics. But there are few bands that I can always rely on to make me feel nostalgic, and one of them are The Monkees.

I would watch the old television series with my father when I was a little kid, laughing at Mickey's antics, Michael's snark comebacks, Davy's love escapades and Peter being... Peter. My favorite was always Peter, simply because he always found a way to get into trouble and make himself look ridiculous. Even though they were America's answer to The Beatles, I had always enjoyed their music more. While at times they were silly, some of my favorites love ballads are from this band.

My favorite song is For Pete's Sake from Headquarters, mostly because I just love how "60's" it sounds. It's just about how love conquers all. Very hippie, but I love it. Some of my other favorites are: Mary Mary and Pleasant Valley Sunday. But I think their sweetest song of all was the song my parents danced to at their wedding, We Were Made For Each Other. It's happy music. And nothing is wrong with that.

Choice Tracks: For Pete's Sake, You Told Me, and Shades of Gray

Friday's Favorites tomorrow!!!
