The dinner post

Alright, it's here, the missing dinner party post. Party? Dinner? Well, we were supposed to escape, us girls, for manicures and martinis, but the shop was closed for no knowable reason. That aside, traffic was so horrid we had preemptively decided to bail anyway. Apparently, I am "the flake" when it comes to social plans. It's not my fault. I don't like you.

So, we're gathering at the house, just the mate and girl and it turns out another mate will be joining us. But we're hungry. So I begin cooking. For vegetarians. Not vegans, thankfully. But there's this dish I've always wanted to try: individual spinach wrap lasagna thingies. So I have the man chop a butternut squash for "fries" while I begin burning noodles and Teyli recovers 3 shot glasses from the library (wait, pinch your nose and speak slowly when you think that word... "the liiiibrrrrarrrrry"). I think NDRtoon says it best.

Hours later, Teyli's mate (Yang) finds his way in. And I mean hours later, we're talking 3 shots and a margarita each. It is pure inexperience and luck that makes dinner just get set on the table as he de-jackets. But we forgive him his lateness for the crazy story he tells. He had to be a nice guy. He couldn't let a man with a gas can just continue walking to the gas station. He had to pick up some random stranger, you see? He's just not a big enough asshole to accept that he's going to be hours late to this social engagement.

And that's how he met Richard Garriott. And he managed not to fanboi out completely... partly because he didn't hear his name at first. And frankly, even if you're not totally geeking out right now, the guy has his own wikipedia page. Yang read a book about him. It's way effing cool. So we forgive him his lateness and enjoy the novelty of the situation and eat.

I don't care what anyone says or thinks, those were good lasagna roll up thingies. We managed somehow to get past the gaming and get on a very weird conversation about the origin (haha) and purpose of religion. But the evening dwindled as these things do and came to an end. Speaking of end, I groped Teyli's butt when we hugged bye, because, well, who wouldn't?

And that was my dinner party.... Friday night.
