She'd found Indiana hobbling through the hallway in search of coffee. "Indiana! You're supposed to stay off of that leg!"
"I'm going stir crazy around here," Indiana had retorted. Michelle ordered him back to his chair and got him the coffee. She talked to him for a couple of minutes, standing in the doorway of his room--she was too conscious of her damp, smelly condition to sit--before she went upstairs to bathe and change.
Now she was sitting downstairs in the great room reading, freshly showered and dressed in some of her nicest clothes. And the Glock on her hip. She'd briefly considered leaving it off--she had a concealable handgun as well--but decided that she'd be who she was. If that alarmed them, that was their problem.
The sound of a vehicle approaching caught her attention. Michelle put the book aside and got up to glance out the front window. A Hummer was just coming to a stop outside.
Michelle walked out of the great room to the foot of the stairs. "They're here!" she shouted to Ami, who was still upstairs with Victor as far as she knew. Then she went to the front door.
Passing the open door of Indiana's room, she glanced at him. He too had dressed up a bit. He looked good. Especially when he gave her that boyish grin. "Ready?" she asked him. Indiana nodded.
Michelle opened the front door and walked out onto the porch, followed by Indiana.
The Hummer had disgorged three people. None of them set off her Immortal radar; that was good. A dark haired young man with an eyepatch, of all things. A dark-complected young woman, short but with a killer figure. And a blond young man with a phenomenal body--an athlete or a dancer, Michelle was sure.
"Hi!" Michelle said, starting down the steps. "I'm Michelle Webster. Welcome to Haven."

Lacking facilities to check the book out, she lifted it above the still-functioning scanner and taken it out, with a note that she'd checked it out, and what date. She hadn't seen any evidence that anybody was still there, but she didn't want to cause trouble, either.
As she walked around the corner, she saw Michelle greet three people coming out of a Hummer. Two men and a woman, and the woman seemed at ease. One of the men, a blond, would have been tempting had she not been taken with Syusuke, who she presumed was upstairs resting.
She quietly stood, watching the meeting go down, and made a mental note to write about it later. Bibilophile she was, but she liked the notion of recording history, and she'd probably end up being the one to do so. After all, history was what she loved.

As she started down the stairs and Xander shifted from admiration to professional distance and study, he knew why. Even without the Glock secured on her hip, Michelle's movements and attitude spoke of confidence, calm, and strength.
She moved like a warrior. Xander was plenty familiar with warriors. Something of her reminded him of Faith, and that brought an odd pang of familiarity and nostalgia.
He gave her a friendly smile and extended his hand, "Xander Harris. And my companions are the lovely Dr. Kayla Thornton and Jason Schuyler. Pleased to meet you."
(Very, very, pleased,) his brain silently leered.

Beyond the house, Jason also noticed another woman observing the proceedings. She seemed content to watch from afar. He wondered why. After so many weeks of being alone, why would anyone choose to stay separate like that? He really didn't understand the appeal of the lone wolf.
