thunderstorm in Japan!

Mar 01, 2010 09:03

This morning I wakeup to noticeable rain and the need to pee. Lying there, I hear thunder. Yesterday there was an earthquake in Chile -- oop, lightning just struck -- and a tsunami (ocean wave from earthquake) hit Fukuoka somewhere, I think. That's probably not related to today's thunderstorm, but it's interesting that the first thunderstorm I've seen in Japan follows the first tsunami to hit Fukuoka.

I'm trying hard to get in good shape according to the Army PT test. By May 15 I hope to do 75 pushups in 2 minutes, 80 situps in 2 minutes, and 2 miles in 13 minutes. It really requires dedication. My torso looks much more attractive now -- less flabby -- which is a primary reason I decided to get in shape: To be more attractive to the ladies. Depressed one afternoon, I tried to figure out why I was so sad, why I didn't like myself. So I tried to see what I didn't like about myself, if I could fix anything.  My frailty and weakness came to mind, and it seemed an easy problem to fix, and one I could start fixing that day -- just time consuming and requiring effort. A secondary reason is to be prepared in case I'm drafted into the military -- an idealistic desire to be a more ideal citizen, "ready to step in". (I don't really intend to be military ready -- I have no desire to practice shooting guns, etc.)

Lightning stike again -- closer this time! (I've unplugged my laptop, and wonder if lightning can travel through LAN cables ...)
