I ran 7.8 kilometers today, with a twenty minute 'break' in between. 3.5 km, then the 20 minute break was getting a glass of water, cooling down a little, planning my 4.3 km jog, and trying to get my younger brother and/or father to join me. (Both declined ( Read more... )

I list how far I jogged and how fast I jogged.

I hardly consider that overanalysis.

Yes, but where others may have written "today I jogged a great deal and man do I feel great about it," you gave precise numbers and the calculations used to obtain them.

It's to track my progress; I expect myself to improve.

That 11-minute mile should develop into an 8-minute mile; that average rate of 5.2 mi/hr (8.4 km/hr) should likewise develop into 7.5 mi/hr (12.1 km/hr).

Why should I be content with my current performance when I know I can do better?

It's the precision that's amusingly you. I didn't say you can't work for better speed and overall mph. I simply find it amusing that you go through the trouble to show the calculations involved.

It was just arithmetic, with a simple copy/paste from Google. It took maybe six seconds.
