bonnaroo was...completely amazing.
i put two albums on facebook; the photos have really long captions and they sum up the tennessee excursion pretty well.
we saw, in order:
bright eyes
death cab for cutie
the magic numbers
clap your hands say yeah!
elvis costello
beck
radiohead
andrew bird
the streets
stephen malkmus and the jinks
and a few songs in passing by oysterhead and damian marley.
i had such a great time. the music was great, the company was greater. i really enjoyed everyone i was with, to the point where it was okay that we spent 16+ hours in the car each way. i really really love gerard - he's a fearless leader, a trooper with a heart of gold. we had a good talk on the way home bright and early in the morning leaving charlottesville. i wish he didn't graduate. he's a good kid. i now fully understand the ins and outs of tom flanagan, as well, which is, if you know him, priceless. a somewhat telling example: i awakened at 3am to find tommy driving and rocking out (head bobbing and all) to "can't touch this" as all other passengers were asleep. i called him out on this when everyone was awake, and he openly admitted it. as another quick example, he also jumped a fence to avoid getting caught smuggling beer into the fairgrounds, which led to about 50 bonnadudes following suit.
the weekend was pretty much indescribable. full of misadventure, our ragtag team of hoodlums made it to central tennessee and back, acquiring a new left rear tire, layers upon layers of grime, and many lifelong memories along the way. i loved it all.
i want to do something fun every weekend this summer.
this upcoming saturday i'm going somewhere upstate with my family to fly in a hot air balloon, which is this crazy christmas present my mom gave me and my dad. it should be interesting. the weekend after that, gerard is having a graduation party, so maybe i'll take a ride down there for that. or maybe i'll go to misshapes with jenna. the next week i have family things friday and saturday...etc etc.
but i want to go places and see people and do things. turns out my money situation isnt quite as dire as i had thought.
i was at jenna's tonight and we went swimming and went in the hot tub. it was relaxing. we also tried to light a fire in her fire pit, but we couldn't make it happen. i smell like campfire now, though, which reminds me of fire parties at school. i miss sam, but he gets home soon, so that's cool.
ive got work and the lovely commute in the morning. i e-mailed the band liars about tabling for NARAL at one of their shows in nyc and the band personally responded to me and set everything up. really stoked about that.
welp okay, i should get to bed early because, despite my million hours of sleep last night, i'm still not caught up from the weekend.
goodnight.
