Tonight was a night for the stupidest of things. It was for being reckless and uncaring, for doing things that might bodily harm him. It was a night for drinking, or worse. Perhaps even illicit drunken glitter-less boykissing. It was a night to bury the pain in foolishness, alienate all who knew and loved him, and make his mother even more

"Liir?" Ino carolled. "You alive?"
Her mood, at least, was pretty fantastic so far.

"Makejoy, honey," Ino said, choosing to ignore the snap temporarily. "Can you move away from the door? Auntie needs to get it open."
And if it was locked, she'd kick it down. Ino was pretty simple that way.
"You know," she continued, "considering that your daddy is in a bad mood and that's bad for you, sweetie."
She did not particularly expect Makejoy to understand all of that, hence her next step being to try to open the door carefully so she didn't shove Makejoy.

Liir, meanwhile, was making tea as if he was currently in a prison camp and planning escape by poisoning the guards.

"Hello, brother-mine," Ino said pleasantly. "Would you like to try that again?"
Because that didn't sound ominous at all, no.

"Yes," he answered cooly, "I'm alive. And my mood has nothing to do with you. I'm just--"
He swallowed.
"I probably shouldn't be around anyone right now. You're welcome to take Makejoy for the evening, if you'd like. I certainly wouldn't ever harm her, but she seems unhappy."

"She's unhappy 'cause you're unhappy, you dumbass." The insult, though, was said almost gently. "I'll take her when I go if it'll make you feel better, though."
Ino's other hand moved to try and halt the tea production. "What's got you riled up?"

"Imagine the thing most likely to upset me in all of the world and then have it walk into the book shop today and demand to know why I've absconded her from Oz to this strange place. Here's a hint: she's green and she's dead." he answered in a great shaking rush.
Reply
"After all: she's dead in your world. Don't let a ghost fuck you over."

Maybe some part of him had wished that she'd have a solution, or perhaps that she'd yell at him. For once in his entire time here, he might have liked a good fighting screaming row.
No, it wasn't that simple. It couldn't ever be that simple.
"It doesn't work like that, Ino," he said with a shake of his head.
"You don't understand."

He could, of course, just goad her into a screaming fight. That could work.
"Any more insights you'd like to share?"
Reply
"No, I don't think you do. And I don't think you will no matter what I say."
Reply
"So you thought you'd just come and hide out and be pissy rather than anything else?"
Reply
"So tea it is."

"And stop that or go. Be angry if you're going to be angry, but this simpering innocent sweet-talk isn't helping."
