Well.. I dunno about that stuff about his Romantic dream.
Seifer's a complicated character, but I stand by the simple fact that he is a jerk.

Uhmm let me think for a moment here and gather my thoughts.

I wouldn’t consider Seifer to be “cold and twisted.” His original idea of being a sorceress’s knight wasn’t like how it was displayed during the game. Seifer never had intentions to blowup other schools, kidnap or even battle Squall in an antagonistic kind of way. We have to keep in mind that Seifer’s idea of being a knight was a “romantic” point of view. His knighthood with Ultimecia obviously wasn’t a romantic one, nor was it a heroic. So one could say that Squall achieved Seifer’s romantic dream. I’d imagine that Seifer wanted to date a sorceress around his age, protect her, and simply act as her knight. Being a threat to the world was never really Seifer’s intentions.

Okay this is all pure speculation, and I think thats why you and I have such long debates over these things. You like to come up with your own personal theory as to why he acted like he did, and I just look at it as how it was presented. Taking a logical view to it.

First of all. Yes, They have a grudging respect and rivarly for each other, but Seifer I do think really does hate Squall. Squall... had everything. It may not seem so at first but you have to take into account that they were in the same Orphanage, so faint memories would help fuel the haterid.

Squall had friends, and He had Ellone, in fact according to the others Squall hogged her. Everyone paied atention to Squall. So Seifer felt left out and they had many fights. That was what life was like in the Orphanage.

Fast forward to SEED Exams.
SQULL Passed. He did not. Gruding mutual respect, but already Squall was making friends, with those he passed the Exams with.

Fast forward again.

Squall got the girl. The VERY girl whome Seifer liked, and TRIED TO HELP, by getting B-Garden SEEDS contracted to do her bidding till Timber was liberated.

Seifer's life in B-Garden was one failure after another, and he was always getting into trouble. This only fuels his jelousey and haterid. Doesn't matter if theres a respect that's mutual. A person can still hate, and hold grudges.

As for Seifer being the Knight to any Sorcress.. You really don't know what it is that made him have the dream in the first place. Rinoa when he met her, did not have any powers, she was normal.

However, Edea *did* have powers. Who knows, when Edea got her powers, Seifer could have seen it. *shrugs* But due to excessive use to GF, that memory could have been forgotten.

Let's not forget that wasn't Edea who manipulated Seifer. It was Ultimicia. Who already knew some basic events that took place. With a time machine based off of Ellones powers, made by Dr. Odine she was able to go back in time and reak havok on Squalls time period, thus changing the course of his and Seifer's future forever. Thats the thing with time travel, if you can possess a person while back in time, and make them do things, you change the future for the people in that time line, while yours remains the same. It's a complicated issue and I think we'll skip that.

Lesat to say, Ultimica could have known of Seifers dream and used it to her advantage, and Seifer could very well have said "what the hell. I'm about to turn 20 anyway, and if I can't pass a f'n exam whats the use?"

It was at that crutial moment, he changed, and he not only willingly did things to people for who he thought was Edea, he willingly tortured Squall.

Thats my over all point. If he were under a spell, he wouldn't have acted so damn enthusiastic at the prospect of torturing Squall.

He hated Squall, loathed, dispised him, and was jelouse of Squall. To Seifer, I think... This was the perfect way to take out his agressions.

Thats why I think he's cold and twisted.

LOL! I love these debates, they get better and better. :D

Yeah I tend to come up with my own theories quite a bit. So I do see where our ideas clash. I still have lots of fun with our talks, I think they rule! I just learn so much from other people's point of views and this is why I like this community and members like you who are in it. :)

After reading all of what you presented...I'm starting to see what you mean. When you put it like that, Squall did pretty much bested Seifer in so many things. I just failed to realize that there are so many things. Good point there.

That's new...it's interesting to think that Seifer could have resented Squall for making friends with those he passed with. I always thought that Seifer only needed Fujin and Raijin and that was it. But perhaps he did really want to make more friends. That is so true.

True that. The origin of Seifer's desires to become a knight is pretty much unknown. But when I was talking Squall fulfilling Seifer's dream...I mean that he was able to date/protect a sorceress. I know Rinoa was human during the summer vacation. But I can imagine that Seifer would have felt drawn to her in a romantic way if he was still on Balamb's side after the disc 2 battle, seeing as how that's when Rinoa became a sorceress. And if my theory on Seifer's dream was right, then that would have been a great time for Seifer to act as Rinoa's knight. But as you said, my theory is merely speculation, not fact.

But overall, thank you so much for posting your views. I now realize that I can't keep making excuses for Seifer's behavior all the time. When it comes to it...I guess he really did have issues and disliked Squall. I just wish the game showed us where all of these negative ways started from in the first place. But I really did enjoy reading your comment, and I am starting to agree with most of your points. :D

By the way...what was Fujin and Raijin's position at Balamb Garden anyway? They were just the Garden's messengers, right? I know they were students and all, but I can not recall any of them talking about passing SeeD. Unless the game ignored their quest to become a SeeD.

Raijin and Fujin were part of the disiplinary squad. With Seifer.

As for them becoming SEED they never did, hence why I think. At the end they were with Seifer instead of AT Garden. It could be that they were close to the age of 20 and decided to leave.

Oh yes, that's right. It's just weird that the game didn't bother building up on the Disciplinary Committee’s origin, and the possible other reasons for Fujin and Rajin's presence at B-Garden. It must have been a very interesting way about how the three of them met lol.

That's true. I hope they go back to the Garden someday. Then again I now realize that Seifer doesn't need to be a SeeD in order to be happy in life. :)
