Emotionally Strongest Final Fantasy Hero

My topic today is about the overall strengths and weaknesses of the protagonists of the Final Fantasy games. Instead of focusing on characters that are within the same game I decided to compare the characters as a whole. In my eyes, FFX Tidus is the emotionally strongest character. Some of you might be saying “no way, Miguel!” lol. But if you would like to mention your opinion of the strengths/weaknesses of a Final Fantasy protagonist, feel free to do so. It doesn’t have to be one of the major characters like Squall, but it’s totally up to you. I chose Tidus he is one of my favorite characters. Now let’s get this debate started. :)

Tidus’ strengths: I consider Tidus an emotionally strong warrior because of his ability to keep everybody’s hopes up through encouragement. He seems to be the kind who is always looking on the bright side of things, despite Spira’s depression about the terror known as Sin. To be honest, I don’t recall him being a humorous kind of guy, but I digress. Unlike Squall and Cloud, Tidus is a very open guy, if not slightly lies about his feelings towards a certain situation. If anything, Tidus is very similar to Zell, just not as obnoxious. Even though he tends to get flustered at times, he never leaves the group. For instance, when Squall would get upset, he seems to always run away for a while, just to think alone. Despite Tidus’ anger, I don’t recall him ever leaving his friends’ side. Tidus seems to be a very perceptive person, which was a BIG help towards the team. When he first laid eyes on Seymour, he senses something dark about him since day one. So it was a good thing he picked up on that early. Just imagine if he didn’t. The most admirable characteristic of Tidus is that he accepts things pretty well. Like when he found out he was a mere dream of the faith, he took it much better then I thought. In fact, part of me thought he wasn’t all that surprised, as if he knew the whole time. But I suppose it’s debatable about weather or not Tidus knew he wasn’t real at the time. Either way, he took it very well. I know Squall would have NEVER taken it like that, if he was in Tidus’ situation.

Tidus’ Weaknesses: Wherever there is strength, there’s bound to be a weakness. Plain and simple…Tidus is a tad bit overconfident. I’m not sure if it’s me, but he seems to be the type who think they can beat or concur any challenge that comes his way. Sure it’s a good quality to have, but it often comes with a very heavy price. I suppose it comes from being a big time blitz-ball player. Now let us not forget about how dramatic the guy can be lol. Like when he was told Yuna was going to marry Seymour for the sake of the people and not for the love. I believe he said something like “So why are we just going to sit around and let her do this? It makes no sense! And even if it was for the people’s good…it still not RIGHT! What about Yuna? I…won’t let her go through with this!” I know I didn’t get it fully right, bur I can clearly remember Tidus being dramatic like that through most of the game. It made it even more touching when the touch music would come on as they talk. I wish I knew the name of that song, though. If Tidus didn’t like an idea, he ALWAYS talked about “finding another way,” which worked out ok in the end. But it got a bit annoying at times, lol. My final point is that he doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who can fight alone. He needs the support of his friends/teammates; he can’t fight his best without them. I can’t see Tidus fighting Seymour 1 on1 if nobody was around. It’s not about having doubts, or he is afraid, but it’s something about Yuna and company that encourage him in his fights.

Sorry for ranting about this, lol. So with that said, who would you consider the emotionally strongest Final Fantasy hero?

ff10, tidus, final fantasy 10, weakness, debates, final fantasy x, heroes, teams, strength, ffx, emotions
