FFVII is definately my favourite - I love the materia system - I always enjoyed planning which spells to give to which character before boss fights, and then planning strategies from there. I also love leveling them up, and gaining new spells, and collecting all the different ones. On the down side though, it is quite easy to make your characters much too powerful by the third disc - once you get Knights of Round and Mimic 4xCut etc battles are just too easy - last time I played I beat Safer Sephiroth in about a minute - purely using Cloud with 4xCut and Yuffies' Conformer weapon - I was quite disappointed! I even beat the WEAPONs quite easily that time. There are a lot of challanges out there to do though - like only magic or no materia ( ... )

The materia system is very clever indeed. I to love how the game allowed you to prepare before certain bosses like Rufus and what not. Leveling up my characters is my favorite part in Final Fantasy games. I trained in the Mideel region, against these grasshoppers looking monsters. That's the only flaw with Final Fantasy. I have a very nasty habit of over training thus making the the ending part of the game a tad bit easy. In fact, I think when you fight the Turks for the final time, they gave me good match. I found them more entertaining then Sephirtoh.

Yeah, junctioning required the most time, and patience to get just right. ;)

So you didn't like the sphere grid, bummer. It's ok though, we all have our things. My only issue for FFX is that you can over train like mad! I beat the WEAPONS in that game with one overdrive from Tidus. :S Sin was a sad boss for me. Still, I loved the game so much, the music, and the characters, almost everything. :)

Lol the Weapons in FFX were probably the only part of the game I was diappointed with...I don't remember which one it was whichever gives 99 pendulums if you bribe it, but I used on Aeon overdrive, figuring I'd weaken it enough to bribe...and that was all it took.

I didn't really level my Yuna's strength very much, but I brought her down Lulu's path and part of Rikku's, so Yuna could take out just about any enemy in the game with a cast of Holy...she was easily my most powerful character even though I barely touched her strength stats :) I have a friend who levelled his Rikku so much she was stronger than Auron...his Rikku was amazing :)

I very rarely used Lulu...I use her for flans and elementals usually my first run through, but usually by the time I have the airship (and honestly usually before that, I just try not to neglect her too much :p) my physical attackers can take out magic-based enemies just as easily as non-magic based, so I'll only swing her in once every few battles to maybe use 'evade' or whatever just so she doesn't fall compeltely behind...Kimahri I also didn't use that much, since unfortunately he doesn't really have a speciality unless you start building one for him later on...Tidus, Auron, and Yuna are my three though...I can take on anything with that team ( ... )

It might be the Ultimate Weapon; I'm not 100% sure at the moment.

Yeah, taking Yuna through Lulu's path is a must, indeed. Ironically, I never really used Lulu all that much except for the final battle. Everybody else was 100 and really strong. Wow, that Rikku does sound incredible. I'd say my Tidus is my backbone for my team. His overdrive filled up so fast. In a sense, the ultimate weapons made thing a bit too easy in that game. I mean, the power is great and all, but there is hardly anything to use it on. Actually, I think a few monsters in the training arena are pretty decent. I've never tried them, but I heard they are ok.

Yeah I trained in Mideel too! Then when they got too easy (and boring) I found it was really good to train in the sunken Gelnika - the monsters are quite hard there and you get lots of AP. The last battle with the Turks is quite tough - thats why I like it though. They are all quite fast and come at you with all these hard attacks - I'm always trying to steal their great items from them as well ( ... )
