Because HP told my wife to break my laptop. I had been having some issues lately with my HP, crashes, infinite loops, core dumps, and personal favourite failure to power up. So Tressie called hp and was on the phone with them for nearly an hour followed by a second call not five minutes after she hung up when it crashed again.
So HP says "ok lets do a system recovery" which promptly fails as it is trying to do a recovery from a drive partition on a drive that is showing all the signs of being cooked from a thermostat failure. Infact the process fails after destroying the bootmgr files, so HP says we will send you a recovery disc so you can try that.
Needless to say it didn't work, the recovery disc gets about 15% of the way through process two when the screen flickers and then everything shuts down. This of course is only after it deleted every thing and now it tells me there is no boot device.
I hate pcs.
