There are games that should be shortened...or not even scheduled at all it seems. Or, maybe, just stopped when it gets too boring. Why? Well, I endured the came of Ukraine against Tunesia. At the same time, they showed Saudi Arabia 'taking on', and pardon my irony here, Spain. Between nodding off and jerking awake, Ukraine won 1:0. What really ticked me off was the fact, that Tunesia lost one player in the first half due to an ejection....and the Ukraine STILL was unable to really control the game. SHEEEESH. I mean, come on. Tunesia didn't do zippety squat. They should have charged forward like there'd be no tomorrow, which, all things considered, is true for them, after all, with the Ukraine winning, they have to go packing and that's that, thanks for stopping by. Some people...
The evening games...ah well. Switzerland won, which *now* came as no surprise, considering their performance. Which nobody would have dreamed about though prior to the tournament. Heck, they even finished first in their respective group. The more important game though was France against Togo. Togo already was out of the competition due to their sub-stellar perfomance in the previous two games. Sub-stellar...wait, that's something you could attribute to the French team, too. It still boggles my mind why team players BEG their coach the whole time to play with two strikers instead of one and it apparently takes the non-availability of Zidane to have FINALLY to strikers playing. Trezeguet and Henry were complimenting each other rather nicely, together with Viera, they ought to be an interesting Trio. I just hope we see something more of that for at least another game during the tournament.
Other than that, honestly speaking, yesterday was negligible World-Cup related at least. A day I could have happily skipped in hindsight. Let's see, the round of the last 16 starts today, Germany will face Sweden in less than four hours....
