Watching the Watchmen

I liked it. A whole lot. They kept in a whole lot of stuff. It was like seeing the comic come to life.

I didn't have a problem with any of the performances. Nite Owl and Rorschach were fantastic. People complained Silk Spectre's actress was wooden, but she seemed fine to me.

Neutral on the changed ending. The comic's made a little more sense, as much sense as a giant squid makes.

Gore was overdone, though not as bad as people made it seem. Only part that disturbed me was Nite Owl breaking that thugs arm, because it didn't look like something he'd do. And that part where guts hung off the ceiling. I made Mom close her eyes at the violent parts. She's sensitive. She told me she wouldn't mind the sex parts though, and was true to her word.

The rape wasn't any worse than the comic. After all the warnings I got, I was like, "that's ALL?" Laurie and Dan's sex scene...was very, very awkward. Porn-tastic

I liked Rorshach putting on the mask and going "Your turn. What do you see?" Didn't like Nite Owl's NOOOOO! at Rorschach dying. It was better unwitnessed.

Small things I missed:

*Laurie saying she wasn't ashamed of her Russian heritage and insisting on being called "Juspeczyk".

*Rorscach's line "Good to see you in costume again. Never liked yours, Miss Juspeczyk. Nothing personal."

*The subplot with the therapist

*Laurie commenting she wanted to change her costume at the end.

And yes, it was fine watching it with my parents. They liked it a lot.

Overall, very nice movie. Liked the end beat. Will be getting the extended edition. Can't stop talking like Rorschach.
