Okay, having seen the Wondy movie.

I loved the fight scenes. I loved Artemis. I loved Alexa. I loved the Amazon Badassery. I loved the zombies and Amazons comin' to the rescue. I loved the animation. I loved Diana. I loved Hippolyta. I loved Diana teaching the little girl to fight. I loved how natural most of the dialogue seemed. I loved the character designs (Except for Ares. And Diana could have been a bit more muscular. And...well, we'll get to the most infamous one in a minute). I loved the whole epic feel of it. And I loved some of the humor.

And Cheetah. FUCK YEAH.

Now, things I hated.

*Etta Candy. WHAT THE FUCK. What. the. fuck. Who in the hell thought that was a good idea. Include a stereotype for Diana to combat, fine. But why in the fucking hell would you be inspired to name that...that THING Etta fucking Candy. On nsd they put it best- that is like having Jim Gordon show up and be a dumb cop who gets killed withing five seconds. What the hell. I want to throttle whoever made that decision. I'm not even exaggerating. They need to be punched in the face. And yes, this is the infamous character design. They made her freaking anorexic, WHY.

*Steve saving Diana. Steve landing a punch on Diana. (though I actually assume that was Diana testing him out a little, not wanting to hurt him) And Steve's bullshit. Opening doors? Seriously, what the fresh hell does that have to do with anyfreakingthing Steve. NOTHING. That is it. That is some writer throwing in their own personal agenda. Some writer who should not be working on Wonder Woman. Some writer who should be slapped. Slapped with a door. As I said in my last post: Wondy should not be about any gender war shit. It is about women being awesome. Period. If some writer is so insecure in his masculinity he can't deal with that, get off the freaking boat and get someone who has none of those issues and a feminist perspective (uterus is optional, but may or may not help). Persephone's line about not having a family? Shit. Utter shit. The Amazons are her family. And once again the implication women need a family to be complete. Nice message for a Wonder Woman movie.

*"It's not polite to hit a lady." That made no sense in context. I'll assume she was being sarcastic.

*I was hoping for the climax similar to the Perez comic, with Ares and the lasso of truth, because it was so very cool. And so very Wondy. And made sense. Ah well.

*Where was the peace stuff? True, it can be overdone, but handled well, it gives a new dimension to the message. Maybe next movie?

*The implication Diana went back to be with Steve, not because of the mission. Gag me.

Annoying stuff aside, I did very much like it, and hope for a sequel. This time, no gender war bullshit, and for god's sake, FIX ETTA. Have Gail Simone write the script! And make it ALL about Wondy vs. Cheetah.

Finally, I think it's time to say yay for a Wondy movie. Whatever it's flaws, it's about damn time Diana got well...something. And something good and entertaining at that. Viva la Wonder Woman!

Bad news, I think I have a cough.
