Sailor Batgirls drawing
So, as anyone may know, I've been kind of obsessively watching Sailor Moon a little lately. It's all the Sailor Moon Doll Maker's fault, it got me all interested. Now I'm a little addicted. The show may get pretty repetitive and silly at times, but it is crazy fun and there's some really well done emotional moments- plus, awesome music (I'm talking the Japanese sub of course). (The manga is also nice- has a lot less of the anime's annoying tropes and allows the main character to mature a lot more)
So I decided to combine Batgirls and Sailor Moon. Because whenever I get into something I get all crossover crazy and compare characters (For instance, in my ATLA Batfamily crossover: Dick= Aang, Babs=Katara, Tim=Sokka, Cass= Toph, Suki= Steph, Iroh=Alfred and Bruce= Zuko. In the Buffy/Batfamily crossover Giles=Alfred (They actually made this comparison in the show later on, after I came up with this all in my head), Buffy=Steph, Angel=Batman (and the relationship there is best left unexplored)(Angel was also compared to Batman in HIS show SEVeral times after I came up with the comparison.) Willow=Babs. I have no idea who Xander is)
But w/ Sailor Moon, it's super fun because both Batgirls and Sailor Senshi are superheroic archtypes and they fit together SO WELL. So I couldn't help but do a picture. Okay, two pictures. With one more on the way, So behold- Sailor Batgirl Soldiers!
Steph = Sailor Moon, Soldier of Love and Justice. I was sort of hesitant to make anyone Sailor Moon, but there was no other soldier Steph really fit (because others fit their soldiers so well) so we can pretend in this little crossover universe, all the senshi are equal and no one is really the most powerful or the leader. Steph is a lot like Sailor Moon because she screws up a lot and can come off as sort of ditz and a lot of times people are down on her, but her defining characteristic is no matter how many times she gets knocked back down, she gets back up again- and when shit gets real, she always gets the job done. Also, she's super bubbly and optomistic, and compassionate.
Babs= Sailor Mercury, Soldier of Water, Intelligence and Wisdom. Obvs Babs would be the smart one, and Sailor Mercury even has a computer that she always works on. Babs is obviously a lot less of shrinking violet than Ami is though. Like Babs, Ami is pretty focused and often mothers the other Senshi and keeps them on task.
Cass= Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Soldier of Strength and Protection. (Her attacks are thunder/lightning based- also plant based in the manga) Cass would also be a good fit for Sailor Saturn, but I wanted her to be one of the inner/main Senshi. Cass is pretty much the most protective person on the planet, her first appearance was sheilding someone from a bullet, and Jupiter is always doing a similar thing of running in front of people and shielding them. Also, Sailor Jupiter is the physically strongest and most martial arts oriented out of the group, and she actually goes out of her way to train in martial arts. One time after she lost a fight, she went to a temple to train until she got better, which strikes me as a very Cass thing to do. She's pretty much effortlessly badass and into fighting. And Jupiter was sort of outcast who saved Sailor Moon's butt before Sailor Moon befriended her and surprised her by not acting like she was weird or scary at all. Sound familiar?
(Jupiter is pretty much my favorite with Mars as second- she beats up three grown men at once in her first appearance, before she's even a superhero-The scene that got me comparing them to Batgirls was actually this one- All these boys were ganging up on Ami at school, Jupiter jumps in front of her arms spread wide all-Cass-first-appearance-like and tells them to back off. A guy makes the mistake of grabbing Jupiter's shirt and she THROWS HIM ACROSS THE HALL and then proceeds to beat on ta bunch more boys until they all run away- Mercury chides her for being too violent, while Moon is all "they started it! Go Jupiter go!" and I was like "Omg, this is Babs, Cass and Steph. Cass kicks ass, Babs nags at her to reign it in, and Steph cheers her on.)
Of course, Jupiter is a million times more social and talkative than Cass, but who on earth isn't?
I've also done a picture with Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars and Tuxedo Mask as certain members of the Batfamily which I'll color and post tomorrow. I've also figured out who Sailor Pluto, Neptune and Uranus would be (Sailor Saturn is just Cass again. She's so awesome she gets to be two people at once) so might do a picture of that later on.

In addition, I also recently did two Steph pictures that I'll show in inked and colored form soon.
So, yeah. This is what I do with my time. Such a dork. But sometimes ideas wont leave you, and wanted to see how good I could draw an anime character.
