the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift

busy day... and busy last week i suppose? i'll get to last week some other time. maybe.

EDIT at 9:45 pm:

so about that last week... i was on brady duty because julie was off to illinois for home time and this conference thing for work. so monday i took him to soccer and went running up at carlynton in the meantime, the latter of which i'd like to make a habit of. the taking brady to soccer part... yeah. i don't enjoy playing mom. but running on the track is a definite do again!

but i spent the afternoon with matt on monday so i didn't mind the whole running around with brady thing. we went to lunch and i got my favorite salad on the face of this earth (pecan-crusted chicken, sans bleu cheese and substitute honey mustard dressing for the balsamic vinaigrette). afterwards matt was a saint about running around doing errands with me so our last stop was guitar center... he's insane. as in he totally knew i wanted him to play me more than words on one of the store display acoustics without any hints from me. i love how i pretend we just go to guitar center for his benefit but all i really want is to listen to him play.

anyway, back to brady. i had to take him to the bish on tuesday night for sports signups and uniform orders and bullshit like that. i talked to all the moms and felt really cool when the soccer coach asked if i was brady's mother. because, you know, i CLEARLY look old enough to have a 14 year old child. like really.

then wednesday was a fun day, again with matt. it was supposed to start with breakfast at cracker barrel... but it kind of ended with that at 2 in the afternoon. in any case, it was fun. :)

but then i had to pick brady up from soccer at 5. somehow i managed to get both of us in our confirmation outfits at the mall by 6:15 for pictures. yes, we endured torture via the penney's portrait studio just for our mother. she wanted nice pictures taken of us for mothers day so i decided to surprise her with them. they turned out nice (as in my brother took a few pictures where he didn't look like he wanted to die and/or kill me) and she loved them. so that was cool. i got us ice cream after the pictures so brady was fine.

thursday... umm... i'm pretty sure that was the day i sat around and was quite literally pointless all day. i had to take brady to tutoring with jon at the library at night so i stayed and flirted with the cute librarian that just happened to be working. ;)

then i went home, watched grey's, and called it a good week.

oh yeah... friday involved the cleaners and a soccer game out somewhere out to the left of the middle of nowhere. thankfully, the left of the middle of nowhere receives the radio station that was airing the pens game so i tuned in. nice.

so that's it for last week! *whew*

ps- yes, i am home from made of honor. it was AMAZING. oh, and eat 'n park banana creme pie was almost as good. but not quite. :)

pps- matt called a little before sam dropped me off at home. they got there okay and all. i should be better with the whole missing him thing tomorrow; i'm being a bit ridiculous.

quick weekend recap:

saturday: cleaners hell 8-4. pretty much a zoo. but then i went home, ate, napped, and then matt came over and we watched garden state and the food network and had goodbye time because he's off to florida for two weeks. boo. i wanna be on the beach :(
sunday: church (where we said goodbye again? cool), dinner for mommy's day, pens game/desperate housewives

so not that exciting.

i know i shouldn't miss matt already but i do. i kind of want to slap myself for missing him so soon...

BUT. i'm keeping quite busy so that means no being sad for gab. except that i insisted on listening to all these sad sappy love songs on the bus to shadyside today. like norah jones and shit. i realized i was being ridiculous when chicago's you're the inspiration came on so i switched to the '60s/'70s happy mix i made for michelle (which i still need to burn!). and everyone knows it's impossible to stay sad when you're listening to the likes of the hustle, crocodile rock, and dancing in the moonlight. oh, and van morrison with brown-eyed girl and domino. so i was happy again.

in any case, i woke up at 8:30 and i had an email from the volunteer coordinator at the hillman center saying that she could meet with me at 11, so i was like "oh shit" and went into super-fast get ready mode to go catch the bus. i made it to shadyside early but i looked like death, the evidence of which i get to proudly display on my volunteer ID badge from now until the end of time. yay. speaking of ID badge, a guy that was in HR while i was waiting for my card to print was like "you look sad, have a tootsie pop!" so i took a chocolate tootsie pop from him and shoved it in my purse. being as i can't seem to shake the overly cautious teachings of my mother, i ended up throwing it away when i was leaving einstein's after lunch. "don't take candy from strangers." like i'm sure the freaking lollipop wasn't drugged, but yeah. that's my life.

so i filled out my paperwork at the volunteer office and went trolling for lunch around shadyside. i found an einstein's so i got a wrap and a side salad with raspberry vinaigrette (yum). then i went over to the lab and katie showed me how to do real-time PCR. i get to start my own project tomorrow, which i'm actually excited about. i'm so glad i'm finally doing something worthwhile with my summer.

so i left around 3, caught the bus back to carnegie, went to the bank, and now i'm here. the rest of my DVDs and the new sephora catalog came today. sam's coming at 5 to pick me up and we're doing our summer semi-ritual of going to eat 'n park for dinner and then to the movies. i'm finally seeing made of honor! patrick dempsey anyone??

AHH sam's here now so i gotta run... write more later?

chicago, mcdreamy, croutons, slow dancing
