Band Trip
Band trip today was completely and utterly amazing. Ths initial presentation was kind of silly and i felt so patronized, but the concert....wow. I was expected to hear Haydn Symphony #104 which is an ok piece, but nothing special. Turns out we were not going to hear Mr. Haydn, but instead got to listen to a Bartok piano concerto with the soloist, but not just any soloist MITSUKO UCHIDA!!!! One of the greatest woman pianists of the age. One of the greatest pianists. She was wonderful. Perceptive, expressive, but not mushy or overly romantic. Then, we got to sit and talk with Ms. Uchida and maestro Barenboim for like an hour!!! An opportunity like that will never happen for any of us ever again. Barenboim is retiring and we got to speak with him before he left. I'm amazed.
Scholastic Bowl was also a lot of fun today. Me, Lauren, Ben, Neuman, and Adam totally killed Plainfield despite their crappy bitch of a moderator. She totally gave her team hints too, but we still won by like 70 points. I despise everyone on their team, so it felt nice to beat them. The other half of the members won their match too. I'm excited for conference. It'll be so much fun.
Tonight i got a hair cut. No one will notice because it was just a trim, but i love haircuts. I feel so much neater.
