I just read the last chapter of FMA. Thar be spoilers under the cut.
One: Ed is a badass.
Two: HOHENHEIM.
Three: ALPHONSE.
I'm a huge sucker for happy endings, so I'm glad that it ended the way it did. I was worried at first, when Ed couldn't figure out how to get Al back, but of course he figured it out. And now I really like Truth or the Gate or whatever you wanna call it, which is sort of ridiculous, but ARAKAWA DOES THAT TO ME. I like everyone.
Seeing Al return to life was amazing. He was just so skinny and scrawny and tiny and so CUTE. And he kept smiling and laughing and you just know he is so happy to be there. The fact that he was just waiting patiently for Ed, ready to give up any chance at life but so sure that his brother would come through for him... I love the bond those two have, and Arakawa shows it to us again and again in so many amazing ways.
The part where Greed died made me sad, because he's probably my favorite Homunculus. I would've liked Greeling to continue, because Greeling is fantastic. Also? Selfcest.
Tiny little weird Homunculus Selim is too cute.
And then the bit where Roy was THINKING ABOUT KIMBLEY'S SPEECH. That is seriously probably my favorite part with Kimbley, in Riza's flashback where he gives his "Don't forget speech", because if you look into it you get so much of his character. And I think Roy's line right after that was only half addressed to Marcoh. (PS: Now I ship Roy and Kimbley EVEN HARDER.)
Let's see, other thoughts... EdWin, finally, I love how they were such an obvious pairing but Arakawa didn't overdo it or make them soppy. Also, Ed, you are so ridiculous, seriously, can't you just ask her out like a normal human. Ling carrying Mei around, cute. Grumman in control, wow, I don't think anyone actually saw that. Scar, stop being so dramatic and just tell us your name.
RANDOM PHOTO MONTAGE: Poor Havoc. Also, is that Maria Ross there? And just by the way, I already shipped HavocBreda but now I do MORE. She's doing it on purpose, I swear. Alphones and Mei with a baby, aww. Roy is super hot. Riza is also hot. Everyone in this series is hot.
Alphonse is DAPPER. Oh, Al.
I'm so sad that it's over, though. I could happily just read this series forever. She needs to do backstories. She needs to do a prequel focusing on Ishbal. She needs to I DON'T EVEN KNOW, SOMETHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD, I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
