The Brattle theater (in Cambridge) are actually having a Grindhouse repertory series along with bunches of other fine art. Brattle theater...If I could I'd go there every month. They always have something good playing and that applies also to the spring/summer schedule as well but here are some awesome highlights:
Friday May 11: Grindhouse Double Feature...Escape from New York and The Thing...Folks that's a Kurt Russell/John Carpenter double feature! Not exactly Grindhouse but pretty damn good enough to be qualified in such a series.
Saturday May 12: Vanishing Point...If you've seen Death Proof I'm certain you've wondered what the hell is that movie they keep referencing and they're playing it!
Saturday May 19: Grindhouse panel...Panel with film experts...awesome.
Friday May 25: Grindhouse Double Feature...George Romero's The Crazies and David Cronenberg's Rabid...I kid you not I've always thought these two films would make a good double feature and...well...Brattle thought so too...awesome. George Romero and David Cronenberg are geniuses in the cult film genre and this social panic double feature is a good example.
Saturday May 26: Grindhouse TRIPLE Feature...Deep Red, Beyond the Door 2, and The School that Couldn't Scream. Dario Argento = most stylish giallo filmmaker and Mario Bava = grandfather of european horror so I guess that works out. Don't know the third film but the directors of the first two are insanely good so that definitely makes it something I want to see.
Saturday June 2: There's no way in hell I could be able to sit through all of this but there's a 24 hour anime festival at the Brattle that seems pretty good...what with showing Nausicaa and Cowboy Bebop and all.
Saturday June 9: Free showing of Citizen Kane at 11:00 am and then, at the late show of 10:00 pm, they're showing Pink Floyd The Wall for its 25th anniversary...that would be an awesome day.
Friday June 29 and Saturday June 30: Guy Maddins Brand Upon the Brain...God I love watching Maddin play with his cinematic landscape.

Watch The Heart of the World and realize how insane he is...seriously...one of the best 6 minutes you'll spend on Youtube. I put the trailer for his newest film on my page and it looks like a delirious rush...in the best way possible.
Check out the calendar at their website for all the other cool stuff they're playing. Anyone who's interested in the artistic in any way should love that place.
I've also been eyeing myself some future grindhouse dvds...one of the best things to come out of Grindhouse was more awareness on retro cinema and it looks like a couple sets are on your way if you want to dive into that stuff. Watch that video that's been on my page forever if you want to know what the hell grindhouse cinema is like.
Saw a grindhouse guide on Amazon (love when people make guides for the most unusual things) and it's damn near perfect for those interested in "junk".

Go check out the trailer on my page NOW and, seriously, if you have any desire of heading out of your way and watching more underground cinema tell me because I've got alot to say. Maybe you can take me to Brattle because I am transportation starved and would love to go! Sigh...damn you Brattle for being so...perfect.
