Mom update; the end is near. :(
I recieved a series of calls this morning from Uncle Bill, Eric and the hospital telling me mom was doing very, very poorly.
In the confusion, mom was intubated (this really shouldn't have happened; she has a living will, and I told them to honor that and not override it, but it apparently occured *while* I was on the phone with them.). After I got to the hospital, and spoke with the staff and Uncle Bill, we agreed that there was no harm in waiting for Eric to show up and say goodbye before pulling the airway.
There was some drama after he and Ana arrived, but after speaking with several doctors Eric appears to have seen the sense in not dragging this out further. He and Ana left for the airport. (She missed her plane yesterday; apparently her father is in bad shape and she is going home to say goodbye. Bad week for family all around it seems. :()
When he gets back from the airport, we'll meet at the hospital and have her taken off the respirator. All the staff in ICU have been wonderful. It's not easy work they do.
It's been raining since last night, so I can't get a decent wireless signal; I'm on Scratch now, to get this posted.
