Today, on the whole, has gone fairly well. :) I hit the local grocery store this morning for some of the items I needed for cooking.

I discovered late yesterday that my punchdown tool has gone missing. I've been working in the office for the most part for the past few weeks, so I'm pretty sure it's at one of two client sites. I'll probably get it back, since the one I think it's at is one I (or another tech) have to return to in the next week or two.

I knew when I discovered it was gone what would happen - that I'd be sent out *today* and need it! I told my boss I'd have to pick one up at Home Depot (he's cool about things like that) on the way to the client. So I now have a *nicer* punchdown, a Fluke model with a soft rubber handle and a hook to yank wires out of blocks with. :) I just have to check and see if the Krone bit I have will fit into it. (I don't need it often, maybe once a month, but I never know until I'm *at* the site, and when I do need it, nothing else will do the job.) If not, I'll hang onto my other one when I get it back. Worst case scenario, if for some reason I *don't* get it back, I'll grab a cheap used Harris punchdown like the one I had off ebay and use that.

-Work went fairly smoothly, at a nice client site. (Really, *most* of our clients are very nice.) I was out of there at about 2:20, in plenty of time to hit only moderate traffic on the way home, and get a few stores.

-The dollar store had the tools to Pathmark for the rest of the stuff on my shopping list. And to my delight, I found two unexpected things there: bags of chocolate toffees, and fluffy ankle socks. I bought one bag of toffee to see what it was like (it's good, and I'll be going back for more) and a half dozen pairs of socks.

-Then I hit Pathmark for the last of the groceries. It wasn't as crowded as I'd expected, probably because it was still fairly early in the day, and I was able to get everything else I needed. The only problem I had was they had turkeys that were about 14-15 lbs, and turkeys that were 24-27lbs. Nothing in between, and really, about 19-20 is about what I was looking for. Not in a mood to check the other area supermarkets (I have about five to choose from), I decided on a larger one. Methinks the food sealer will be getting quite a workout.

-And on the way to my car, I found a crumpled, damp five dollar bill. :) I was feeling quite lucky by then, so when I went back to the store with the cart, I popped in and bought two instant lottery tickets. (Nope, nothing. *L*)

Mom is in surgery *now*. My uncle got a call from the hospital; for whatever reason (he didn't know), they didn't get her started until late. (She was scheduled to be in surgery at 2pm, which seemed late to me.) The hospital keeps telling my uncle she needs to go to a nursing home after this. (This is not true. They told *me* she needs 24 hour care. *That* I agree with. But after the fiasco last time, I'd rather that happen *here*.)

Uncle Bill also mentioned that Eric took Ana to the airport today, she's apparently going back to Rio. I'm finding that interesting, since her trips there are not usually brief, and Eric mentioned last week she's taking classes here. Hopefully all is well...
