Yossi has been talking more lately. On one hand, he's been using "no" very appropriately. When I ask if he wants something and he wants to refuse, he shakes his head and says, "No, no." When he does something he knows he's not supposed to do and sees me looking at him, he wags his finger at himself and says, "No-no-no!"
And I've heard a few more sentences from him. As in: The other day, I was nursing him. He finished on one side and made as if to climb down. I suspected that his diaper was full, so I held onto him and asked, "Do you want a diaper?" He shook his head and said, "No, no." Then he patted the pillow. I asked if he wanted to nurse more. He said, "Mo," while signing for more. So I nursed him on the other side. When he finished, he sat up and said, "Wan dipa!" So I changed his diaper.
Similarly, the next day I was nursing him again. He finished on one side, then climbed down. A few seconds later, he ran back and said, "I wan mo!" I asked, "Nurse more?" He signed "more" and said, "Mo," for good effect. So I nursed him on the other side. (I think this was on Yom Kippur? It seemed like he wanted to nurse all day on Wednesday. I was surprised to see it, given that I was fasting, but my supply was fine, and I think he is getting a kick out of being able to ask verbally and have his requests granted.)
