Gah, memorial day weekend was madness~ Fanime 2006 happened, and me and mog took Glade & Carnage to the major bjd photoshoot and panel on saturday. first time meeting up with other doll owners irl, and seeing actual dolls from the forums in person resin XD didn;t expect such a small con like fanime to have so many doll owners attend, and the amazing thing about it was that for the 30-40 dolls we saw, that was only a fraction of what all the owners actually had, but didnt bring cos it was too much to carry around a con.. me and mog brought carnage + Glade, and it was already quite tiring holding them in 1 arm for the whole morning =x we were just relieved that they looked pretty decent in their outfits we'd rushed to make a few days earlier ^_^
(With the most adorable pair of neko ears we'd bought from the dealers room there)
Found a really pretty CP-Lishie at the artist alley - she's Carnage's twin-sister mold!
took some pics with more artist alley bjds! I still don;t know bjds well enough to recognize molds.. =\
just a snapshot of several dolls present at the photoshoot that took place right after the dollfie panel! the corner was so crowded, and the lighting was so bad that most of the piccies came out too dark to post. Carnage also caused some trouble (shoulda seen it coming) by starting a mini-dominos effect when some guy photographers were trying to photograph him close-up (what's with guys and them wanting to zoom in on a ninja who's hiding most of his face? )
the tall bunch that chose to stand instead of sit - many people brought much smaller bjds, and the few SD13 and hounds present really surprised me.. I'd thought Sd13 were most popular in size. *shrug* I guess people like bringing small ones to cons for the convenience. I realy liked the F16 (the one with long blond hair), wished we'd stayed longer to have more piccies with him.
2 gorgeous hounds in the right... me and moggy especially adored the one in black XD
sunday was a madhouse, and although we thought we'd arrived early, fanime messed up the panel schedule, and we missed the dollfie cosplay panel =( oh well, took some photos of Edelia & Glade in their vampire matching outfits (?) anyway. strangely, edelia was pretty smiley in all the piccies, while Glade just looked 'blah'. Edelia must've been happy to be out after her long time indoors since her falling-in-stream episode some weeks ago.
Took piccis outside, despite the other dollfie owners from the day before talking about not wanting to bring their dolls out (into better lighting =_=) cos of the waterfountain and the wind... something about water droplets in the air? personally, i don't see the point in everyone staying indoors and taking bad photos of their lovelies just to avoid short-term exposure to the elements? but then again, it was impossible to get everyone to relocate since many people didnt know each other, there were just too many dolls, and photographers just kept coming and coming so we couldnt really repose the dolls all that much.
About this time, Moggy was already pretty crowd-afraid. it's her first time attending a huge US con like this, so it's pretty natural. I dont really like crowds either, but the great weather lightens anyone's mood in such events.
the non-bjd aspect of fanime was pretty fun too - corny cosplay performance as usual, pretty amusing AMVs (anime music videos) at the AMV competitions, some interesting how-to-make-outfits/props panels, and spent some time in the video rooms where we caught Nana the movie (we loved it, but couldnt find a copy at the dealers room), and yes, lotsa shopping at the dealers room! got a new pc vampire-yaoi game called AnimartMundi, Dark Alchemist, shounen-ai anime box set of Sukisho (by the artist of DN Angel), several FF and disgaea figurines. Mike bought me a most adorable Kuchiki Byakuya furry plushie too <3 <3 <3 while he and Adam were busy buying out the FF7 AC Cloud + Fenrir (bike) model set! darn I'd almost forgotten how fun dealers rooms can be!
pretty fun and tiring weekend, and it's back to school again on wednesday (yay for no tues classes.. so homework can be done) - i think we should attend more bjd meetups in the area (like within 1 hours' drive) so we actually get some networking done. the convention meetup was great, although so overwhelming in attendance that we didn;t catch names and such. x_X gah i feel like a newb at bjds all over again!
