Roving thoughts

Little did I know that Ralph Waldo Emerson would be a kindred spirit to my very own soul. While at the Grand Canyon I picked up a book with an appealing cover: Meditations of Ralph Waldo Emerson Into the green future. I’m a sucker for the green movement (obvious no?) so I had to take a look. And I’m very happy I did so. Oneness, interconnectedness…these are things I’ve been thinking about for the past year or so. Every time I come across someone, famous or not/past or present, I feel like I’ve come across a hidden treasure. Some of these people like Emerson lived more than a hundred years ago and yet our thoughts ran the same track. What does this mean?

“Speak your truth today, though it contradicts everything you said and believed yesterday.”

I find these words to be true but at the same time I believe they can be misused. Though we are all hypocrites (not my choice word) some continue their hypocrisy without bringing anything good to the table. But I know how minds change. Mine changes constantly. And for some reason people take that as a cue to throw it in your face. I know different though and I shouldn’t let those people bother me or bring me down. I’ll continue to do what I love and believe in because I know in my heart of hearts that it is right and true.
