"I've got a bad feeling about this."

YES HAN SOLO INDY. THERE'S ALWAYS TRUTH IN THAT WHEN YOU SAY IT.

I've just returned from the 4th installment of Indiana Jones. And my feelings are in 2 places- in terms of "hey my dad would like this" and "tinted_glass would hate this". I've watched the film with some filters on and I'm pretty neutral about this Crystal Skull business. I don't hate it, but it doesn't replace The Last Crusade from its pedestal. I still ♥ Indy. He's the same old. Pretty much same, but older.

The beginning of the show seems as irrelevant as the start to The Temple of Doom, especially with the bidoofs cute fuzzy little animals which less than subconsciously brought my Shia Bidoof pokemon to mind. They were cute, yes. I was delighted yes, but it seems as much out of place as if it was Chewie there instead.

ANDOMG.

KIMBLE!!!

I didn't notice NEIL FLYNN until my bf started nudging me. Why? Why is he doing that? OMG NO THAT VOICE. THAT FACE. He has more lines now than he ever did when he last acted with Harrison Ford. I wonder if Scrubs might sneak in some references to that? Remember said fuzzy animals? Maybe that's why he's there. You don't suppose he has a wardrobe full of taxidermised fluffy animals.

AHHEM.

So yes. Then Shia Bidoof shows up with his sleek back hair a la Grease. There was no immense dislike spewing out of me, and even though he tried as many times to be annoying by combing his hair back... I think I know what an amoeba feels like now. His character's okay. I give him that.

I miss Marcus. Just like Indy, I didn't like it one bit when his statue's head fell off. It made me feel so sad all of a sudden. Marcus was a great guy.

I miss Henry Sr too. You only get to see his photos. It's a little odd that I felt happy seeing that.

I really like the return of Marion Ravenwood. She was the spunkiest Indy girl I've liked and I think it's cool they linked it back. Another Ark reference was actually seeing the Ark itself in that Area51-like place it was stowed at.

In any case, the plot for the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn't make half as much sense as with all the predecessors added up. I didn't see the necessity of the cute animals. Nor did I see the need of the secret government agencies. arrch wished that it was the Millennium Falcon that we saw hidden under the Mayan-like temple. I wished so too. I liked the concept of knowledge as treasure, the theory of crop circles as signs for alien landing points. (All this made some sense to me because as a teenager, I found this book that hypothesised that the ancient Egyptians and the Mayans had extraterrestial help with the building of their pyramids and I guess it left a pretty big impact on how I felt about the mysteries of life. X-FILES MUCH?)

I love all the adventuring nevertheless. The humour. The classroom scene. Minus that crazy batty fangirl. XD The bantering between Indiana and Marion.

The wedding (?!@#) was far too odd. But I guess if you've spent that much of your life adventuring and you are, very much indeed, getting this old, you'd probably would want to settle down.

The verdict? I think you have to sit through the movie yourself. And you can bitch about it later, but you'll still love Indy just as much, if not more. I kept trying to allude to previous Indiana Jones films and it pretty much as the same disbelieving elements about it, but we take them in anyway with enthusiasm.
