Constantine.

So, it took me a good couple of days to finally start writing about Constantine.

Before I go on, I have to say I may have some facts wrong because my memory sucks (it's the lack of sleep) and I'm very new to this fandom. Everything spoilery is under cut, and camouflaged with the background so this is safe for reading and commenting.

So how about Keanu Reeves? As a dark, brooding John Constantine? Hell no, say Hellblazer fans. Because I'm no fan since I had no idea what Hellblazer's all about, I went ahead to watch it. See, in the trailer they showed a pair of wings which I fell in love with. When I left the theatre, I think I was already in love with something else but let's not go into that. It's embarrassing.

I did some research on Hellblazer itself, and it did seem like the movie and the comic are hemispheres apart. Personally, it's not bad if you consider it to be an AU. If you're in for action and demon-slaying, go for it. Or angels and pretty wings. Depiction of hell is pretty. :D And if you go, STAY AFTER THE CREDITS, MATE. qweqwasopnca I missed it (and I also missed the first few minutes of the starting). If you're for plot, the story isn't that bad in the beginning but it was quite holey towards the end. Story isn't draggy and is quite well-paced. Usually when I get bored, I look at my watch. I didn't have to for this one.

Apparently, John is more of a "detective" in the movie than as a magus. One of the characteristics I'm glad the movie kept was his selfishness, otherwise he would NEVER ever be Constantine. He gets to dress like Agent Smith from the Matrix, play as the exorcist from The Exorcist, and be the boy from Sixth Sense. And the good thing is that he didn't say a single "woah" in the movie! :D

Chas is John's personal chaffeur of sorts. He is also such a fanboy. In his cab, he has a fair assortment of occult books and tries to be John whenever John's not around. John's not very happy, of course, but the two of them must have some sort of history that fostered trust. It's also clear to see that he doesn't want Chas to be involved because he cares for his life. I assume movie!John has had friends and relatives who died because of him, like comicbook!John. When they're together- Chas whines and John broods, not listening. Chas continues whining. My god. Stop it- Chas! This relationship won't work. Well at least not until he stops whining. :/

Comicbook!Chas is more on par with John in the sense that they're like good friends, and Chas' always the muscle where John's always the brains. Still, movie!Chas is likable in his own way. Though I didn't really see it in the movie, John/Chas is plausible? Maybe I'd see it if I watched the end bit. I thought it was pretty cool John let him help out at the hospital. John/Chas reeks of sweet fluff.

Gabriel is a delusional character. You can tell from the asexual angel he/she/it is. Wasted opportunity to lick John proper.

"This is pain. Get used to it."

I think Gabriel's kinda masochistic. Gabriel/John not possible unless it's all kinky and such. O.o;

Lucifer appears in a cleanly pressed white suit. He's pretty much white overall you'd think he was from heaven. But then again, he WAS from heaven. Movie doesn't explain much of why he wants John's soul save for the fact that he attempted suicide and was almost successful. From the way it looked, he seems pretty much desperate for his soul. At least in the comics, I can understand why but even then, it seemed like it is the First of Fallen that wanted him more. Anyway, his love for his soul is so blatant he refuses to allow John to go to heaven by extending his lifespan just to prove to everyone that he belongs in hell. Possessive much, yes?

omgwhatswiththattongue?healsoalmostlickedJohn!

Father Hennesy is a nice man, but let's not go there because I don't want to. =_=;

Balthazar/John!!! XDD While Gabe's masochistic, Balthazar's sadistic. He seems to enjoy watching John suffer. Somehow, I get a bit of Smith/Neo deja vu.

Midnite's a swell character who sits on the fence basically. Not exactly on good or bad terms with Constantine, but knows him from way back. But I'm sure he has always been a bit to John's side, otherwise I'd doubt he'd actually aid him. :D After John won him over, he's actually quite a nice guy.

CONCLUSION: John Constantine too pretty. BAD KEANU, YOUR PRETTINESS WILL RUIN US ALL. But Keanu ain't that bad. If he has too, he carries two emotions off very well with one face! :D That's... angst and anger. Ehrm. Wings still worth watching for, look out especially for the shopkeeper dude. ^_^ He's the prettiest!

Constantine makes for a good action flick!

Gore-factor: 7/10.
Slash-factor: 6/10.

Easter-egg: Did you know Keanu and Rachel acted together before in Chain Reaction? That was about a decade ago.

Addenum: Wtf am I writing? I'm going to bed.

Addenum 2: OMG I FORGOT BALTHAZAR? *ADDS IN* *clings to kannazuki*

Addenum 3: Midnite
