HOW ABOUT NO

Just repeating what many of you on my flist have already posted: I don't like LJ's new buttons that let you x-post entries and comments to facebook and twitter. It's fine if you want to use them on your own or public entries, but please don't use them with f-locked posts, mine or anyone else's. There's a reason people lock their posts, and many ( Read more... )

WFT???? How did LJ come up with this bright idea without allowing users to disable the feature???? Am I missing something?

No, they just rolled it out without any warning. I see mata already gave you some tips on how to disable the buttons - there's also some info around on a script that can be used on Firefox or something, it's in the first page of comments here (I haven't had the time to try out either of these yet).

I have a feeling that that fix only makes it so one doesn't locally see the buttons. After all, how could a script I run for my installation of Firefox stop YOU from seeing the buttons when you log on from another browswer. As I mentioned below, mata's fix did what I wanted. Woot!

Luckily there are ways out already - which they should've provided themselves before implementing this crap.

Any chance you could enlighten a techno-dummy like me on how to do it? :-D Like Nerwende, I don't want people who comment on my blog to be able to cross-post their comments to other networking sites.

*copy/pastes* *g*

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style"
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in that line.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

once you have it pasted in there, save changes.

You are an angel! Thank you thank you thank you! A few other of my LJ friends are complaining about this. Since Nerwende's LJ is locked, would you mind terribly if I copy and paste this for others?
