Well it's been a good week so far. Christmas was good-- we had some cousins that came back from Hawaii, so we had to go up and pick them up and they stayed for dinner with us, it was fun. He and his wife are going to be moving down to Arizona this month for his new job. He just went through a program here at the BYU Marriott Business school to get a masters in Mechanical Engineering along with an MBA at the same time. Pretty good set up, I think. Anyway, he said he's going to see about an internship for me down there with his new company, which would be FREAKING AWESOME! I've just got to update my resume.
Other stuff, I got a bunch of CDs from my siblings for Christmas, including a CD from Green Day, which has "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," and "Wake me up When September Ends," a couple of my favorite songs I've heard since I've been back. They also got me 3 CDs of a band called Franz Ferdinand. Which is not quite what I wanted, but I'm not complaining. I mentioned liking one song of theirs called "Take Me Out" which has been playing on the radio a bit recently. So, I guess they decided to get me a whole bunch of their stuff.
Got also a couple of programming reference books, among which is a 1450 page windows programming book [For anyone who is interested, it's Petzold] YES!! No more hunting around for obscure and often not well explained details on how to do this or that on the internet! And my parents got me a griddle/press thing that sits on the counter, is electric and makes cooking things easy and not hard to clean up. That's going to make things so much easier for making complicated things that are a pain to do in pots/pans that no longer have their teflon coatings.
Got my brother a copy (legitimate) of the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie. Which I later found out is a good thing since he was going to get an illegal copy from one of his "connections." So, that's a plus. Got a CD for my mom, looks like she likes it, and one for my sister. Got a new civil war fiction book for my dad. He's been reading that type of thing recently and really likes the genre.
In other news, I got my computer back!! YAY! I was having a fit without it. Even managed to get the wireless network to work with my laptop-- we have a plug-in wireless card which I was fighting with last night and couldn't get it to work. Turned out we had to add the MAC address to the router's list of ok addresses, but my dad figured it out when he got back. I was tired of battling the thing and had just gone downstairs to plug in with a cable. The CD/DVD drive is working, but I still haven't had a chance to test it and see if it'll burn DVDs for me, gotta get ahold of some.
Oh, and one other thing:
/me discovered Trigun. Wow. I've only managed to get ahold of the first couple episodes and so far I'm liking it. The only problem is, I don't think I'll be able to get ahold of any of the other episodes! Yargh! I'll have to wait and see if anyone I know in Quark is willing to lend them to me. (I looked up the price on the 'net for the DVDs-- yeah, not spending that much money at this point-- $150 was just about the cheapest I could find). I'm hooked, anyway. Vash = hillarious.
