i bring the noise and the funk wherever i go

Last day of the December talking meme, and I've actually managed to post every day. I mean, some of the entries are flocked and not fandom-related, but STILL. I think that means I've posted more this month than in the whole of the rest of this year. I'm not sure if that makes me happy or sad, but I do know I'm pleased I managed to do the whole month.

December 31

catteo: ANYTHING AGENTS OF SHIELD. I anticipate that withdrawal will be well on the way at this point, what with the last episode of this half of the season airing on the 9th. So I'll want vids, fic recs, theories, Hydra vs SHIELD, why you didn't like Ward before he became 50 shades of grey, etc etc.

It's weird, but I'm not feeling that much withdrawal. I thought I would, and I am eagerly anticipating the second half of the season (while getting increasingly worried about the fact that Agent Carter doesn't have a UK broadcaster yet), but I'm feeling weirdly calm about AoS right now.

Of course, there's still plenty of time to start freaking out.

I'm hoping you'll hold me excused on the vids, because yesterday's epic Chuck Bass post probably burned through half my data allowance, as well as exhausting me. (Sidenote: Bronchitis? Not fun. Bronchitis when you already have asthma? Horrible.)

Fic Recs. I think I'm going to suck and pass on this as well, because I'm yet to find satisfying AoS fic. I've found some good, well-written stuff, but... nothing that's really hit the spot for me. There's altogether too much fluff in the fandom, for a start, and too much shippy fic. Unless it's Bobbi/Hunter, I'm unlikely to want to read shippy fic for AoS. I want May being awesome, and FitzSimmons being British, and Skye kicking ass, and Tripp being his excellent self. IF I FIND THAT FIC, I WILL REC IT.

Theories.

+ My number one theory at the moment: Tripp's not dead; he's invisible.
You can call this denial if you like, but here's my reasoning:
We were told, more than once, that only special people would be able to enter the temple
Tripp went back down into the city without a hazmat suit, and nothing horrible happened to him
He'd never touched the obelisk before, but as soon as a bit of it touched him, he went all stone-y, which, okay, looked like the splinter-bomb effect, but could just as well have been the diviner noticing him and getting to work

+ Theory the second: Raina, or one of her band of freaks, is the girl that May saved in Bahrain. I want it to be Raina, but figure they would likely have recognised each other, so...

+ Theory the third: sooner or later Ward is going to be back with the team, but Simmons is going to have a harder time forgiving him than Fitz, because letting go of anger you feel on behalf of other people is sometimes harder than letting go of your own.

HYDRA vs. SHIELD. I want so badly for the show to address this, but I'm just not sure that, within the confines of the MCU it will be able to do it to my satisfaction. I mean, if this were just your usual Whedon show, then yes, I think they would, but when they have a massive movie franchise that's largely tied together by the concept that SHIELD = GOOD and HYDRA = EVIL, I just can't see it happening.

I think we're probably going to have to settle for the subtle comments (they called themselves SHIELD) and subtext. Normally this would be fine by me, as I live for subtext, but SOMETIMES I JUST WANT FREAKING TEXT, OKAY? Also, I think they could make Coulson a million times more interesting if they just made him a bit more self-aware.

I would like, just once, for a character other than Talbott to point out that for the past however many years HYDRA AND SHIELD WERE THE SAME FUCKING THING.

I would also like someone to point out that Talbott's reaction to Coulson giving him Creel as a present = Coulson's reaction to Ward giving him Bakshi.

Why I didn't like Ward. I think I already covered this one when you asked me about Skyeward, but if you feel like you need me to explain it better, let me know and I'll try. It boils down to the fact that fucked-up bad guys are generally 10000000000x more interesting to me than fucked-up good guys. Also, he's the kind of good looking that I tend not to notice, i.e. too hot for me. Sorry.

mememe, agents of s.h.i.e.l.d.
