Um, I'm SORRY! Because I don't watch TVD, so I'm post-jacking. (Ew... that sounds... ew.)
But OMG, Josh Safran is NOT staying with GG??? MAN, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!! Was it his own choice, or did the network kind of go "Um... Chuck and Blair, idiot. NOW. Ratings are important." And he was all: "NO!" And then they were all: "Maybe you should start looking for another job..."
Or if he just decided that the best way to fix his own broken ship was to bail out and swim for it.
But now... hm. It's still not renewed, but I would think that if the network can hire a new show-runner, they'll at least give it half a season to wrap up. Josh Schwartz, come baaaaack!
Yeah, HOW VERY DARE YOU come here and interrupt all the TVD talk that was going on?
Heh. I am ridiculously pleased that Safran is out, and I don't really care why. I think it's probably a combination of things, though. I can't imagine that the CW is happy about getting the lowest ratings EVER, but he's obviously not enough of a pariah that other people aren't willing to hire him. I DON'T ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THAT, but whatever. I'm just glad I don't watch Smash.
I would hope that there's a decent chance of Schwartz coming back if it does get a final season. As far as I know the only other things he's been working on this season are Chuck and Hart of Dixie; the former's been cancelled, and the latter looks unlikely to be picked up for a second season. Of course, he may have oodles of other things in development, so who knows?
Hmm, I just checked and apparently he's EP for a Sex and the City prequel series that's in pre-production: The Carrie Diaries. I... don't even know how that would work.
Oh, I have heard about the Carrie Diaries. I... am not sure how that's going to work either. Because I was under the impression that Carrie didn't grow up with the other SATC girls, so this would be Carrie and other characters. Which... isn't bad necessarily, but, I don't know, prequels are always iffy. Because you already know how it has to end, so you can't really have any soulmates or anything in a prequel who aren't the guy she ends up with. I might check it out, but I'm skeptical. Plus, the attraction of the original was that it was very adult entertainment. With swearing and drinking and situations that I would never experience. I'm not sure how a teen show is going to attract me in the same way. (says the woman loving Gossip Girl, a show about (former) teens having hot sex

He does still have an EP credit on GG, and, from a couple of comments that Safran's made in interviews, it sounds like Schwartz still gets final approval on overall arcs, etc., so
