Happy Valentine's Day!
Of course, Josh and I aren't doing anything cause if we were anymore lovey dovey than we already are, one of us would end up throwing up. Besides we have class tonight until almost 10. So that takes up most of our day. But at least the xbox is at Josh's house so after school we can play games until late or use it as a DVD player. I might get my very first graded college essay back tonight, so I'm hoping I got a good grade. With my teacher though I'll be happy if I even get last weeks homework back graded. I'm at work right now, a little more than an hour to go and I've already been to all my killing time websites.
So I was listening to the new Xiu Xiu album Women as Lovers and on one of the songs he says, "why would a mother do such things? why would a mother add tongue to a goodnight kiss?" and then later he says "why would she tell me how many times my father made her cream?" I know that is proabably not 100% correct but as I was listening it was just really unsettling and I felt like he was doing it more for shock value. I mean certain themes have been present on his albums before but now I feel like he's just trying to top himself and be shocking, I dunno. I could be way off. Maybe I'm just sick of the dirty feelings hearing things like that. Knowing that stuff like that is going on all the time. Maybe that's why he's singing about it? So people don't forget that there are problems like that even if for most people the subject is taboo. I have no idea.
All I know is I didn't like it which seems so silly for me to say that about something simple as that. Especially having just read Marquis De Sade's 120 Days of Sodom. Which was incest galore. Normally I love exploitation and shockumentary type stuff, so why would a few lines in a Xiu Xiu song bother me?
