It's Wednesday again!

I would write about my day, but I haven’t really done anything. I only went to school for two hours, since my only other lesson of the day was cancelled. Then I’ve spent the rest of the day procrastinating doing this history essay (I have another couple of days to do it though, so it’s not too bad). The only vaguely interesting thing I did was buy a green coat, which is made of awesome and I can’t wait to wear it to school tomorrow, since it’s much warmer than my current one.

Random thing to happen to me of the week: (this will probably not be a constant feature…) I managed to get given a non-speaking part in a public speaking competition I’m doing as part of “curriculum enrichment”. (“Curriculum Enrichment” is basically my school’s way of giving people who don’t do anything much outside of school something interesting to write on their university applications.) The non-speaking part is quite good though, since I don’t really like public speaking, and I only chose it because I could get a writing part in the previous competition we entered.

What books are you all reading at the moment? I’m just over half way through “The Collector” by John Fowls because one of my friends on LJ recommended it. The first half reminds me a bit of “Lolita” in that the narrator speaks of what he’s doing and constructs elaborate plans without thinking how twisted it is. I find that sort of thing fascinating, since in “Lolita” and to some extent “The Collector” there’s such an empathy built up for the narrator. However, in “The Collector” the second half is from another character’s perspective, which highlights how pathetic the first narrator is. Since I have obsessive quoting habits, this is one of my favourite quotations: “We’d never be any good together, we both want to lean” which I think says a lot about the narrator.

Does anyone find it amusing how our ages are roughly the same the five awesome girls? As in, two of us are younger than the other three, like Hayley and Kayley :). Also, are we going to do things like challenges? Because that could be quite good to do if we can think of things. I might do something like Liane’s “New Music Friday” if I get some good inspiration for something, although it wouldn’t be music related.

Also, yay for twitter! I’d only used it for following people before, mainly random youtubers, and Stephen Fry. I might try to persuade some of my offline friends to use twitter, although they’d probably just look at me weirdly.

Hope you have a good week!
