School, "Fight Club" and more book discussion!

The most interesting thing that has happened today, is that my school is in a state of panic, since we have a visit from school inspectors. They visit schools (each school is visited once every three years) and give feedback; basically, they have quite a lot of power. So the teachers are all extremely worried, making over the top lesson plans and encouraging participation in the lessons. Also, my History teacher kept trying to convince us that a builder was an inspector…

Have any of you seen/read “Fight Club”? I recently rewatched it and then read the book. It’s interesting looking at which lines they chose to keep, and which bits they changed. I love “Fight Club” especially because it has so many good quotes, like “Prepare to evacuate soul…” and “I am Jack’s wasted life”.

Also, I present another picture of my bookshelves, since I didn’t upload it for some reason last Wednesday. It’s the stack of books from inside my bedside table because it has a shelf bellow the draw, which is my poetry collection, and collection of books by Stephen Fry. Plus, “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson, because it’s used to be my favourite book, and I love it so much. Although the Stephen Fry and poetry books are only in my bedside table because I have nowhere else to keep them.

Comment questions!

1. My History teacher is strange to say the least, for example a couple of months ago he pretended to have cholera to show the Year 9s what it was like, including face paint, faked fainting, and Katy Perry lyrics written on the board to describe how he was feeling (“You’re hot then you’re cold… someone call the doctor”). Do you/ did you have any strange teachers like that?

2. Do you like films? Favourite film? Favourite movie quote?

3. Are you the “I like my books read, scribbled in and sticky noted” or the “keep books in pristine condition!” kind of person? Personally I like some books to look read, unless they’re really smart looking. I put post-it notes in all my books, but never write in them, unless I’m studying them for English.
