whine whine whine "volcano monitoring". hurricanes kill people so we (as in the government) tracks them. volcanos kill people, so you know, we track them to. so maybe not so many people get killed next time.
also what exactly is it about high speed rail that gets the republicans' panties in such a twist? the acela rocks! and it's pretty much for rich people only! why do the republicans hate rich people?
anyway, it's still amusing to see the republicans in so much disarray. krugman actually called them the party of "beavis and butthead" and right now they have about the same amusement value. at least until charlie crist (the very straight COUGH governor of florida) starts coming up in the world. he's the only one in the pack of them that makes any sense.

(oh, and it took me a second but i answered my own question. Amtrak is a government company, not privately owned and it pays good union wages with a pension. Ergo IT MUST BE DESTROYED)
