It's a long-awaited day for the Badger's Sett Sims: a convoy of trucks arrived early in the morning to drop off a variety of much-needed supplies. Items range from farming supplies and equipment, tools and machinery and petroleum to entire IKEA sets (thanks to Nikolai Baudelaire), baby items and clothes, pots of paint and whatever else the Settlers have requested that fit in their alloted space.
As well as bringing supplies, a crew of builders, plumbers and civil engineers has come along in a helicopter to help lay out Badger's Sett plumbing. They won't be staying long - just until the work is done - and will be housed in the old McFusty Farm in the meantime.
The Settlers are pretty excited, despite their body language pointing to the contrary. New stuff is rather hard to come by when you live more than 10 days' travel away from civilisation, after all.
Lexi Fairfax looks over the scene feeling pretty damn satisfied with herself. They've made it this far, nobody has given up or been eaten by a rabid Bigfoot, and with the new supplies Badger's Sett is sure to become even bigger and better. Things are looking up!
Off-screen Voice: "Oh hello! Hello there! Are you Miss Fairfax?"
Female Sim: "Oh it is ever so nice of you to organise a welcome comittee for our arrival! It was quite the trip to come here, that's for sure. We got lucky with the weather though - no strong winds and mostly dry. Ideal flying weather, really."
Lexi: "Uhm... excuse me, but who in the hell are you, and what are you doing here?"
Female Sim: "Oh I'm terribly sorry, I assumed the Council had been in touch to tell you of our arrival."
Lexi: "The who now?"
Male Sim: *elbows into conversation* "Just let me deal with this Faelyn... Ahem, hi there, nice to meet you. Lexi Fairfax I presume?"
Lexi: "Well, yes. Care to enlighten me on what the hell is going on here?"
Male Sim: "We have arrived to become part of your wonderful settlement! Can I just say how admirable you and your team's efforts have been so far? This is truly a prime location, and the hamlet, so charming! A real miracle of modern exploration and..."
Lexi: "But why are you here? And who are you two? All new inhabitants have to apply months in advance and go through rigorous checks. I don't remember any new applicants that made it through the process! How did you get here anyway? Did you stow away on one of the trucks or something?"
Female Sim: "A great evil will come to this place, which is why we have been sent to..."
Male Sim: "Will you let me do the talking, please?! *coughs* We are uh, emissaries. Ambassadors, if you will. Don't worry about the paperwork, I'm sure that the Council will sort everything out, if they haven't already. I can understand that you are upset about our current lack of credentials, but I assure you that this little matter will be cleared up with your people back in Sim City in no time. As a matter of fact, I am amazed that nobody has been in touch to tell you about our arrival. Our sincerest apologies for this inconvenience. My name is Elend Venturi, by the way, and my companion is Faelyn White."
Faelyn: "That's not..."
Elend: "Will you shut up already?!"
Faelyn: "Well, I never!" *sets off in a huff.*
Lexi: "You're trying to tell me you came here all on your own, unannounced, without vetting it with anyone of the expedition first, and you just expect us to be okay with it because some council is going to send confirmation to prove you're ambassadors? Ambassadors of what? Terrible communication?"
Elend: "I am truly, truly sorry about the manner of our arrival. We really expected you to be informed when we got here. Please, once the Council gets in contact you will see that this is all just a big misunderstanding."
Lexi: "So you just want me to take your word for it?"
Elend: "Until my word can be confirmed, yes. I would be indebted to you."
Lexi: "You know, you don't have to talk all fancy like that. It's not going to get you any favours with me."
Elend: "Fancy?"
Lexi: "Like you swallowed a dictionary, or something."
Elend: "I'm afraid I don't follow."
Lexi: "Ugh, fine. We'll get on the satellite phone to double-check there weren't any communications with the Sim City council that we missed. But you'll have to fend for yourself for the moment. We don't have any housing space available at the moment, the work crew has taken over the old farmhouse until the plumbing works are done. And if it turns out that you lot have no business being here, we're putting you on the next helicopter home. Capiche?"
Elend: "Thank you! We can take care of our own living space, not to worry. We won't be any bother, you'll see."
Lexi: "I really, really hope you're right about that."
While Lexi and Elend are having their conversation, Faelyn has wandered off in search of some less aggravating company.
Licas: "Well hello there, gorgeous! I didn't know we were getting new people along with the supplies!"
Faelyn: "Yes, we have only just arrived. Who might you be?"
Licas: "Licas is the name, beautiful. And I'm delighted to welcome you to our humble little town!"
Faelyn: "Oh, it is good to meet someone who knows how to properly address a lady."
Licas: "A lady? Sure sweetcheeks, I know how to treat a lady right, if you know what I mean."
Faelyn: "That much seems evident, sir Licas. I am very pleased to make your acquaintance." *flutters eyelashes*
