Meet the Settlers!

An excerpt from the SimCity Chronicle:
Some areas of SimNation are still uninhabited and mostly unexplored. Every so often, a brave band of settlers will strike out to make a new home in these uncharted territories. Seeking fame or fortune, questing for knowledge or searching for a good place to raise their families, or just on the lookout for fun and new experiences, these pioneer Sims face many challenges while trying to carve out a new life for themselves.

This particular ragtag fellowship has been gathered by Lexi Fairfax, the (in)famous traveller, adventurer and explorer. Its members have been selected carefully based on their skillset and personality, completed a four week survival bootcamp, and have been extensively tested for psychological stability by Dr. E. Zimmerman (turn to page 4 for our report on the discovery of Dr. Zimmerman's unorthodox methods and his subsequent commitment to Happy Volts Asylum).

Our latest contact with expedition leader Lexi Fairfax via sattelite phone revealed that the expedition has found a suitable location for their prospective settlement. Enchanted by the large numbers of friendly Meles Meles in the surrounding area, they have decided to name their new home Badger's Sett. Construction has commenced and is progressing smoothly, according to the group's architect, Mr. A. Quiggle.

Only time will tell whether the Badgers' endeavour proves succesful, or, like many other attempts at taming SimNation's wilds, they will never be heard from again.

The Settlers

Lexi Fairfax

From the ruins of Numchuk to the deserts of Al Simhara, from the distant Shang Simla to the bustling streets of Champs Les Sims, Lexi has been there, done that, and in many cases, bought the questionably-smelling T-shirt. So what's a half-alien with a thirst for more adventure to do? The answer is simple: go boldly where no sim has ever gone before!
Lexi finds herself the ideal candidate to lead the settling expedition, as colonisation is in her alien blood. Energetic and full of optimism, she is certain that the founding of Badger's Sett will be succesful, and will win her a place in the history books.

Licas Rolfe & Ella Umber

Licas is an ex-biker gang member and one of the best mechanics around, Ella is a promising young scientist with a strong dislike for dogs. They got lumped together when the living plots were divided, much to Ella's chagrin, as Licas didn't exactly take her wishes into account when constructing their house. Ella hates it when Licas calls her 'babe', Licas thinks Ella should see someone about having that stick up her arse removed. Living together hasn't improved their relationship or smoothed over their clashing personalities. On the contrary, they get along even less now than they did when the settlers were still on the road.

They both think that they'd be much better off with other housemates, and have filed a request with Lexi to swap with someone else.

Oswald & Nora McFusty, Colin Cho

Oswald and Nora are twins, while Colin is Oswald's best friend forever. They all went to the same University together, and got selected for the expedition straight after graduating, Oswald as an engineer, Nora as a medical doctor and Colin as a computer scientist. Despite their degrees, Oswald and Colin are still very much college boys, and take fiendish delight in teasing Nora, who has discovered several new allergies on their journey to the settlement.

Colin is in charge of the sattelite phone, the settler's only link with civilisation, as well as being the group's class clown and entertainer. Oswald worked closely together with Licas, Ella and Adrian on the construction of the settlement, and will be the lead on establishing civilised comforts such as electricity and running water. Nora is having a hard time adjusting to her new living circumstances and prefers to keep to herself most of the time.

Nikolai & Yelena Baudelaire

Nikolai and Yelena are heirs to the Baudelaire fortune, and the funders of the entire expedition. Nikolai is a savvy businessman who has been director of Baudelaire Security Co from a young age, and without his sponsorship Lexi's grand plans would possibly never have become a reality. He sees the expedition as a fantastic investment opportunity, and had to come along at all costs to see his pet project flourish (and maybe make some money while he's at it, of course).

His sister Yelena runs the practical side of Baudelaire Security Co with a strict hand. She's of the opinion that Nikolai must have been bounced on his head to think this was a good idea, but if he's going to go, she's coming along to keep an eye on her baby brother. Yelena is in charge of the settlement's security, keeping the Badgers safe during their journey and making sure the new town is well protected.

June Jones & Adrian Quiggle

June is a farmer's daughter, agricultural scientist and a great believer in the homestead principle. Adrian is an architect, born and bred in the city, and as far from an outdoors person as you can get. Despite their differences, June and Adrian get along quite happily. Adrian's barn/farmhouse is the most well constructed building in the new town, being the only one to sport two floors. June's been a great help in getting Adrian to get used to his new environment, and is teaching him basic gardening skills.

Their budding friendship might be cut short by Licas and Ella's warring, however, as Lexi has informed them that one of them might have to swap housemates with the unruly two.

Alright, you guys called it :) A new BaCC it is! I'll be playing according to these rules, but bending or changing them where it is for the benefit of the story. I am super excited to get started!
