So what was with that Mecha anyway? The mechanics were trying to get you out of it for like twenty minutes before they decided to give up. I couldn't figure out how to get it open either and I design and build the things.

It's a special system designed for use by psychics, Newtypes or Psychodrivers specifically. The cockpit design is something of a safety feature I guess, but in emergency situations it's not the best idea.
