A/N: this is inspired by a song with the same title as the fic 'Somewhere over the rainbow'. Another addition at the genre (^^) that is what happen when you listened to a lot of Utada Hikaru's song and for this fic, it's 'Take 5'.

Kame sits quietly, hands folded neatly on his laps as he stared at the woman in front of him.

“Mommy… there’s nothing wrong with me, why are you crying? It’s just a bruise.”

He showed her his bandaged hand to say that he was definitely alright, and that he only hurt his hand.

But his mother paid no heed at what he had said, she just cried in silence, and wrapped him in a tight embrace. He didn’t ask further about his mother's actions, and frowned when he saw her talking to the doctor quietly, but the tearful smile never left her face.

Kame never understands his mother’s smile until that one day…

He stared at the mirror in front of him, frowning slightly.

It has been 3 years, and he was aware that there's something different about him, everything... is different around him. It was as if he had missed a lot of things in his life.

Well, he did notice about the sudden leap of year from 2001 to 2002, but when he asked his mother about it, she just waved her hand dismissively, giving him a slight laugh and said that he was silly for forgetting the year, and that there was nothing strange about it.

"But why can't I go to school like everyone else, mommy?”

“Because I don’t want anything to happen to you just like that accident.”

That accident… Kame was sure that he didn’t even have any serious injuries during that time, and he was a bit annoyed about his mother’s overprotective streak since that day. She didn’t even let him go anywhere other than their house premises.

Again, he didn’t ask his mother further about it but later that day; he had accidentally heard his mother's conversation at the phone.

“He had started questioning everything…”

Kame stopped in his tracks and hid himself. Is she talking about him?

“I know that sooner or later I have to tell him everything…” a choked sob, and it made him frown.

Is she keeping something from him?

“I know that he is not my real son but he looks and acts so much like him that it hurts…”

What? He couldn’t believe what he had heard.

He's not her real son?

And if he isn’t her’s, whose son could he be? All this time, he knew himself as one of the Kamenashi, and if he really isn’t who he thinks he is, who is he?

He wanted to know the truth…

He took a deep breath and called out to his supposed-mother.

He watched her dropped the phone with tears streaming down her cheeks as she gave him a pleading look, as if telling him not to ask anything anymore.

But he wanted to know…

“I heard everything… I want to know the truth…” he said almost whispering, and the woman in front of him started to cry harder than before telling him that anything he heard was not true, and that he should forget about it, and act like nothing happened.

Kame shook his head. “I want to know the truth… who am I?”

He glanced at the man that was sitting opposite of him, beside his supposed mother. The man was a little bit younger than her, has a tan skin and floppy hair. He realized that he had seen him at the hospital before when he was let out from it. He introduced himself as Kimura Takuya, but he told him that he could call him Takuya. After the brief introduction, the man flashed him a wide smile.

“Are you ready for this, Kame?”

He straightened himself and gave a firm nod.

“I’m ready.”

He then glanced at the woman beside the man and gave her a smile, “Nothing could change my love for you, mommy… you will always be my mommy.”

Kame gazed at the dark sky filled with stars and somehow felt a little bit calm. He smiled at the thought of it. Calm? He didn’t know that he could feel such feelings. He closed his eyes when he felt a sharp nudge at the ribs. He opened up an eye and was staring straight at Takuya-san’s face, the wide grin still intact.

“How are you holding up? You know, your mom is getting worried about you.”

He didn’t budge from his position but just stared back at the man.

“Are you mad at me and your mom?” the man asked again.

He watched Takuya-san sat beside him on the sand.

“I’m confused…” Kame said softly, “If I am what you said I am, why does it feel so real?”

“You’re special…” the man smiled, turning to look at him and played with his hair. “You are supposed to be real.”

“Am I just like Astroboy?”

Takuya-san smiled grown wider. “Yeah, you can say that.”

Kame smiled widely at the fact. "Does it mean I have a heart?”

The man just smiled at him and ruffled his hair and it was as if the older man was saying that yes he does have a heart and he was very special. He liked it… being special… Kame thinks he liked it.

............................................................................................................

Kame glanced at the man beside him and gave out a weak smile.

“Hey…”

“Hey…” he replied back as he took a deep breath and heaved out a long sigh.

It was silent for a while till he cleared his throat and said, “Somehow… I feel kinda glad when he said that he wants to leave.”

He turned back towards the older man and again, gave the other a weak smile. Although it had been 2 years since he knew the truth about himself, he could never stop himself from thinking that he is real, and that he's like everyone else, made from flesh and blood.

He knew that he was special and he liked who he is but…

“Because, if him staying means that I have to see him leave me just like mommy… I really wished that he would leave.”
