Havoc didn’t have a television; that much was an easy enough fact to tell if only from her appearance alone, skin and bones and tattered clothing, not even shoes. So whether fortunate or not, she was not at her usual place of residence when the broadcast had gone up, but a small residential area in the Abyss, the kind that actually had running televisions in the windows for the scum to watch the news sometimes.
She cared little for the politics of this city, but when Johan Liebert appeared on the news, you knew something bad was going to happen, or was happening, and most of the time not watching could cost a person their life. How could she have known that this time, it would be the exact opposite? The entire broadcast was watched in muted silence until the blood erupted on the screen-and then the few people that had gathered around her were screaming, either killing themselves or each other or running for their lives.
She hadn’t moved; she hadn’t spoken: hadn’t even looked away from the screen until she heard the scream of a child nearby. And that was when her own, private hell broke loose.
Face set in a glare and lips a thin line, Havoc’s eyes flashed red, and the world around her erupted into crimson and silence, and as she had when she left NeoGenesis years ago against her will, she felt nothing, and she felt nothing for any of the other people that tried to stand in her way, either. It wasn’t like she had a heart, she could remember telling someone, and that had been the end of it.
That had been over a week ago, and the world had yet to fade back to black and white.
