With the impulsive urge to leave the teenager’s residence and take his own in a hotel, Itachi had been keeping himself a reclusive -- a hermit, even being outside in public had caused him to be unsettled and uncomfortable as shoulders brushed against his own. And even the slightest little tough, the smallest indication of human contact made him inwardly cringe.
He heard word of Soifon’s disappearance, and even though he had sought for her, the Uchiha had thought in the back of his mind to give up, and to let it go. There was no point in Itachi to succumb to exhaustion with what could not be prevented. It was hypocritical, in a sense, concerning Kazama’s suddenly disappearance, and Itachi was no optimistic, but the thought of Soifon coming back just like his kouhai didn’t stray too far from his mind.
Finding a small quaint cafe hidden in an alleyway, he sat down at one of the tables on the sidewalk. A book in hand and heavily lidded eyes gazed downwards with sleepy apathy. His lips parted, and he let out a small breath, looking worse for wear and as a waitress came up to him, it (unexpectedly) took him several brief moments to be fully aware of her presence. He ordered a simple coffee, and even when it was in front of him, slender fingers did not make a motion to take the handle of the cup, instead he only let the somewhat comforting wisps of steam rise.
Several minutes and Itachi was already lost in deep thought. His fingertip mindlessly swirling the liquid in the cup and his chest heaved with unrhythmic breathes. Fingers threaded through his hair. His thoughts were filled with cynical opinions of himself, to the point of letting out a low sardonic exhale that could have resembled a dark amused noise. It was pathetic to admit to himself that he would surrender to defeat -- surrender to the fact that he was ( -- in a sense -- ) lost. And perhaps it was best for Itachi to just simply wait and waste time.
