Faith had nothing to do with it. Itachi knew that the other was much more determined then she looked, and Itachi would not question it. He was thinking logically that he had went back on his word that she would risk going down into Abyss to find both himself and Kazama. And Itachi would not risk that for the sake of both Yosuke and Shikamaru finding her dead body hanging limp on power wires, or even fouler situations. Instead he accepted it, like he had accepted his own death: it would be too much trouble, too much of a hindrance to tell her to leave, to tell her that it would be obviously dangerous, and the exhaustion would only crawl through his nerves and dragged him down as a result.

But it would have been better to have her follow him than Yosuke - someone who was oblivious, who was naive, who was clumsy and overemotional. So when she opened up her notebook and scribbled down the word on the piece of paper before showing the Uchiha, Itachi tilted his head in a slow movement with a hollow expression that graced his features, Itachi only nodded softly.

"It would be pointless for you to be absent from your education in exchange for -- " A futile search " -- another’s priority." Not to mention, Itachi would have to pick up his own weapons and attire that was left at Kazama’s apartment from his own stay.

When the dark-haired man nodded his agreement-that, yes, he promised, he would not make her go to school and then disappear, that she could come with him even if she didn’t do him any good-Nill almost broke into a grin; she resisted the urge, of course, hid the happiness better on this occasion than she had done in the past, but it was hard to miss the way her eyes lit up, the way the atmosphere around her lightened slightly and lifted. Even if she was misinterpreting the situation, or even if it wasn’t really true, or even if Itachi was just trying to placate her, he was letting her come, maybe even trusted her enough not to get herself killed. It was more than she’d gotten from Shikamaru and Yosuke.

She hesitated for a few moments, unsure of how to proceed-if she could speak then maybe she would have argued that no, Kazama was far more important than her education, and she was learning just fine, and all the kids there just picked on her anyway, it wasn’t that big of a deal to miss it, so really, skipping class was perfectly fine-but she didn’t and instead offered up a small smile, before mouthing the words “thank you” as carefully and as precisely as possible.
