Derek did look a little drained, dwelling on one single thing. The name of this place, it felt strange every time he heard it. Phew, well, he couldn't let this get in the way of his patients. He did his rounds regardless, and continued addressing people in the way he normally did, uppity despite the weird droning in the back of his skull.
Next up, a simple follow-up with the male who recently had a new eye placed in. On the way into the examination room he grabbed the other's charts, and didn't hesitate to walk right in.
The smell of disinfectant lingered around him like a cloud, covering up other scents quite effectively. A strange kind of cologne, yes?
The male's voice piped up once he entered ,"Nataku! How's the eye doing?" The young man leaned forward, firstly asking a few questions.
"I do not know. I do not speak to objects in my head." He tilted his head once more, regarding his doctor. "Do you?"
"One moment." Nataku searched the area next to him to pull out a small rectangular Tupperware. He held it out to his doctor -- Derek Stiles, if he remembered. It was a moment of irrationality but he brought food to this person. A sandwich, because he was uncertain if he would like sushi, one of the other meals that he made for those in the household. The reason that he had brought it was because he did not want to feel like he owed the individual anything. Was it for the sake of manners?
"This is for you. You may eat and I will eat until you are finished." To take blame off the man in case that he wished to eat now. A kindness? Perhaps. "Furthermore, it seems as though you are tired."
Derek's expression turned blank for a second, but then a grin spread across his features. He was joking, no? Well, he couldn't exactly tell ,"I was talking to it's owner, actually. Is it working fine? Any problems?"
Just then..food was offered? Woah, that never happened before. The man's look was one of confusion. He then gingerly took the container from the other and set it to the side ,"Thank you, but I'm not hungry right now."
He was asking about him, too? The surgeon's head tilted to the side ,"Huh..? Oh, I'm fine."
This was pretty weird for him, though he loved to bullshit with patients.
"I see. You should have said that in the beginning, then." Nataku did not sound as though he was annoyed or chastising the other. At least, he did not think so. He was merely telling him this for the next time that he should ask such a question -- at least to him. "I am fine. There seem to be no issues

Derek quirked a brow first at the other's reply, still confused by the other's mannerisms. Then again, no one here was normal. Everyone had their own ways of going about things ,"Wait, what? A pill?" It sounded like he took some sort of hallucinogen. He wasn't tripping now, he couldn't be. The nurses normally checked vitals and such before calling him.
Oh, he was damn confused. The talk of demons seemed to get him even more disoriented, if not uncomfortable. Derek's eyes lowered for a second, but snapped back to the other ,"You can have it back if you want."
He..asked too many personal questions, something he wasn't used to in the workplace. At least this kid was the last of his rounds, and even now he was debating getting him..possibly evaluated, or something.
"A pill. It was white. Shortly afterward, the room grew bigger and smaller." He gestured slightly with his hands, like that would make sense. Nataku doubted that it made much sense. It had happened a few days before he came to his check-up -- having not left his surrogate father's side until he felt that it was safe to do so. What an irrational statement and thought. But he had always said that he was still as child
( ... )
Irritation bubbled up in his mind at the pointless questions, but he wasn't one to just..get up and walk out, especially after someone drugged the poor kid. Patients had to leave happy and healthy, regardless of the circumstances ,"..I think we all have demons. It's how we overcome them that matters."
Should he just leave? No, he had to wrap up the conversation ,"..and I like my glasses." A smile formed on his face, but the topic was changed ,"Anyway, who gave you the pill?"
"I see. I wonder what demons he has." His head rose slightly to look at the ceiling, wondering what Johan's demons were. Were they something that he would be able to destroy? Was it something that Nataku had to help the Senator overcome or would he have to fight them by himself?
"I see. They are nice, I suppose." Looking away from the ceiling, he regarded Stiles again. Wondering how sincere his comment about the man's glasses sounded, given that he was not even looking at him when he made it. He held his hand out. "May I see them?"
Derek blinked a few times in confusion, really not following the other's trail of thought ,"Nataku..who gave you the pill?" His eyes moved to lock with the other, holding an almost parental concern in them ,"You shouldn't be taking pills randomly, it's very dangerous. What if it was poison?" Derek paused and spoke again,"..and I really think you should talk to someone every so often. We have a lot of great councilors here at.."
"My little sister gave me the pill." He tilted his head slightly, a gesture that he always did when he was confused. "She would not poison me." Blinking a few times, Nataku was now the one unsure of where Stiles was going with his train of thought.
"Here? I do not want to talk to people here." A pause. "Though, I suppose it is unavoidable since I speak to nurses, receptionists and you." He thought about this more, to avoid coming to this hospital. "If you wish me to speak to people, I shall speak to you. We may speak as much as you will like."
Hmm? His..sister? Ohh, and Derek thought he was calling his glasses his sister or something due to contex. One could never tell in this place ,"..It sounds like your sister gave you a hallucinogen. They're very damaging, and can even cause lasting flashbacks."
He did frown a little bit ,"I'm not trained to be a councilor, but I can find you someone you feel comfortable talking to that can be of more help."
"She was only showing me that I had demons as well." Nataku defended his little sister, did not think her actions malicious. Because she was his family, because they were close, were they not? He would not do anything to harm them and so why would they harm him? "Flashbacks? I am afraid of the dark now. An irrationality that I do not understand."
Derek looked a little peeved, not at him, but at his little sister for drugging him ,"Those demons were artificial, they were hallucinations. Metaphorically we all have demons, and some people are trained professionally to get rid of them." What was he to say? I think you need therapy? The way he was talking was..disjointed, unfocused, it worried him ,"The dark isn't anything to be afraid of, either."
He wasn't trained to deal with people who had psychological issues, and had no memory of assisting that one girl from his past who did. Pity.
"I see. Artificial demons." He thought for a moment, remembering something that he read on the Network. It was after he was found in the Abyss -- after he found that someone had been operating on his body. He had no memory of it, but it seemed as though it had been a painful procedure. Regardless, he brought up another point. "I once thought that I was not human. That I was not related to the people that I knew. It was a strange thought that came to me. I believe I was upset about it."
"I do not remember. I wrote a note and asked my cousin, but I do not remember doing any of these things." A brief pause. "This was last year." He felt he should alert his doctor of these things so long as they were talking about hallucinations. "I know. I know that the dark is nothing to be afraid of. There is nothing in it except when there is. However, I will kill everything that is in it. This time."
"I do not mind talking to you. If it is you that I am forced to talk to, I do not mind it." He stared at Stiles. "Understood?"
The other was so..oddly open with him, and it did confuse Derek further. All his recent patients had shown a distrust for hospitals in general, and him by proxy. It was unusual.
This talk of amnesia made his brow furrow ,"And a therapist could help you with that too. Nataku, I have your best interests in mind, you have to trust that. "
At the word 'kill' he perked up,"Kill everything in it? Why?"
Oh, come now, he wasn't trained for this, but he couldn't force him to talk to a shrink either.
As much as Nataku disliked doctors and hospitals, he did not see a reason that he should lie to them. He did not understand that if he did not wish to speak on something that he simply could remain quiet on the subject. Such a concept was lost on the child. Which was why he was usually confused when others would not answer questions that he prompted to them -- personal or otherwise -- that they did not want to answer.
"Why must I trust that you have my best interests in mind?" He looked to Stiles now, having been gazing at the man, yes, but not really looking at him. "I cannot do such a thing. I have already inconvenienced the Senator enough with the loss of my eye. The state of my mind has always been this way." Nataku felt if this was understood, the subject would be dropped.
"Because it is dangerous." His tone was still bland but had a hint of haughtiness to it, like he was the one speaking to a child now. Like this was an obvious reason to do anything. "If it is dangerous then it needs to be killed so that it does not harm him.

A pause?
He continued, "Asclepius."
