(this may or may not be accurate as I'm not too sure what I was like at 16 anymore but it looked like fun.)

Dear 16 year old self....

This breaks the Space-time laws however I feel it is important. If I got the timing right I should reach you in about August 2003, after you got your GCSE results but before you went off to Sixth Form. I need to tell you some things.

First of please learn to relax, like yourself and enjoy life. It's not all about proving how smart you are just to give yourself worth and you really need to learn that you don't have to be right all the time. Despite all the bullying and crap of your earlier school years you are a worthwhile human being no matter what everyone else says. Please learn this fact as soon as you can and enjoy life.

Sixth form will be really, really good. Not because of the studying side (which is interesting but not the point here) but because there you'll finally start to make proper friends. Friends who actually like you for you and don't care that you are an eccentric odd ball and actually like that about you. For the first time in your life you'll make meaningful friends and will keep in touch with them. Having friends will make you a lot happier person, when the option comes up for friendship try not to turn it down.

At the moment you are quite cynical and critical of things especially those things you claim to enjoy (Warhammer, Computer games e.t.c). Stop this now as it'll only get worse and worse until you get to a point where you can't enjoy anything, have little fun and nearly loose friends over it. Fortunately you snap out of it before it gets too late but it'd be better if you snap out of it now. On a related note just because something is popular don't be afraid to enjoy it, popularity doesn't always means it sucks.

Erm I notice your starting to drink just a little more caffeine these days, well I'd stop that or rather keep an eye on it as well...you will become very dependent on caffeine when your older so breaking the habit now is a good thing. Otherwise it'll be a lot harder when your at my age and trying to cut down on the amount of caffeine you drink.

Start wearing your hair longer, you look better.

You'll have a couple of crushes on people over the next years; these will make you miserable and mopey and a bit cliched but... in the end they are for the best. Help you become a much more rounded person in some ways. Due to wanting someone to like you, you do end up becoming a lot more open minded and tollerant.

So 16 year old self take home message is really learn to relax and enjoy things and life and stop worrying about proving how birillant you are in an argumentative fashion. There is no need and more to life then being "brilliant". Oh before I go some things you'll have to look forward to over the next few years and will love.
  • The Relaunch of Dr Who... this is awesome....
  • You'll finally see what all the fuss about Buffy and Angel is; this is why I said don't be afraid to like popular things.
  • You've had a brief encounter with roleplaying in the form of WFRP and I think some D&D by now. Well next few years will be a massive eye opening surprise and you'll get a lot more into this hobby.
  • Again you'll finally pick up a Discworld novel and fall in love with it.
  • Somehow you've avoided playing Silent Hill up until now. Just you wait.
  • Broadband and Wireless internet.
  • Writing stories, you finally stopped repressing your creative side and life gets better.
  • Expressing emotions, again you get better at this and life is better.
  • Doing things with friends hell just having friends.
  • Moving to Edinburgh at the age of 21... don't ask why just yet.
  • University (in the end you'll like it).
  • The Thursday night gaming group...
erm thats it now 16 year old self...
