Karate

As part of my new found drive to do more things and generally do more with life I decided to try out Karate. I remember doing this or something like it as a kid and recently have thought that I'd like to do something different with my time and thought why not attempt some sort of martial arts again.

It was great fun and I'll be going back next Friday; I wasn't as utterly terrible as I thought I'd be and seemed to pick up ok on stuff, which leads me to conclude that their teaching methods must be ok. The great thing is I don't feel in to much pain today. Although next time I shall have to remember to take water with me. On the plus side the people seemed nice and their teaching methods were a good mix of constructive critisim, correction and praise.

On a side not endorphins are fantastic things; I felt more awake and stimulated then I do after drinking copious amounts of caffeine and while feeling awake and energetic I felt calm and happy not the sort of nervous, hyperactive and anxious sort of alertness I get when I've had too much caffeine.

So yes stepping outside ones comfort zone and trying new things turns out to be a good thing.
