Aww, don't feel sad! Things are changing a little at a time. There's an evolution to the awareness of things like this. It won't happen all at once.
My favorite actress is Salma Hayek, and she's brown! But she's not on tv. I wish there was someone like her on tv! My favorite tv show is CSI. There are two versions of this show, and I watch the one set in Las Vegas. One of the main characters is a hunky black man, and a more minor character is a sexy, hip, black girl.
When I was a kid in the 70's things were a lot different. Black people were shown as comic relief only. And I don't remember ANY latino characters of any kind, except Ricky Ricardo on reruns of I Love Lucy.
Here's Salma. She's so pretty I want to eat her with a spoon.
Here's Aisha Tyler, the pretty girl from CSI. She helps solve the crimes!
Both of these girls are totally zany real people. I wish we could see that side of them more often.
Remember, just because corporate tv shows only certain images of beauty or brains, it doesn't mean we all buy into it. I know that beauty, brains, and personality is every color of the rainbow. I believe that things are changing. Be happy we live in a time when we can watch it change!
I am glad that there are people who think like you do... I wasn't aware of the CSI girl, since I don't much watch the show.
I am glad it's the 2000s and not the 70s or the 60s. I love those eras, for their music and hippy-ways, but... boy, would it had been bad for me due to colour issues.
I hope one day there won't be so many whites-only cool shows.
